Photographer’s Note

The image is from Lake Prespa, located at the northwestern part of Greece, at one of the most beautiful areas of Macedonia, Florina. There are two beautiful lakes, the Small and the Big Prespa, we call them together "Prespes" in Greek.Greece is sharing lake Big Prespa with Albania and Skopia. The photo is from Small Prespa that belongs to Greece, except from a very small part that belongs to Albania.
The impressive flora and fauna of the area forms a National Park with special protection and great international importance. Many rare species live there together with the inhabitans and it is great to see how this coexistance has increased the people's respect to the nature and the deep contact with it.
Unfortunately this fascinating area had been almost secluted until 1969, because of the very sensitive location at the borderline.
The last decades, the easy access to the area, helped to the devolopment of it. The villages around the lake and the island of Saint Acchileios turned into a unique destination, even for the most demanding one.Not only for the amazing natural beauty of the place, but also for the many byzantine monuments, the great architecture of the area, the peace and the relaxation it offers and the great-great food!
I visited this place at autumn, because i knew it was the perfect time to admire the natural beauty and the very rare species of fauna the lake is popular about. It was a surprise for me to discover that this place is not only a nature- lover's and photographer's paradise, but also a great place to relax, enjoy and learn a lot about the history and the traditions of the area.
I had a great time there and i would like to share with you some of those moments, as captured by my lense...I hope you will like it!
