Photographer’s Note

This is the main church of the town Zakynthos, Agios Dionysios (St. Dionysius). The church of St Dionysios, patron saint of the island with the carved silver larnax of the saint is the biggest church of the island.This church is dedicated to the protector of the island and it is located along the seashore of Zakynthos.
It was built in 1948 and it resisted the earthquake in 1953, now its bell tower is very high and stands out among the different buildings recognizable as soon as you enter the port. Even if it hasn’t got any particular exterior characteristics, when entering you are impressed by the quantity of frescos, lamp holders and colours.
Among the artists that contributed to the magnificence of this church there are the painter Doxaras and the chaser Bafas who engraved the silver reliquary in where there are the mortal remains of Saint Dionysios.
The bell tower, being surrounded by numerous bulbs, during the night it is enlightened creating a lovely view.

Hallo Sakis!
Große Klasse! Eine fast feierliche Stimmung kommt hier rüber. Wunderschön, wie die Kirche sich von dem dunklen Hintergrund abhebt und die Diagonale der Uferlinie mit den Spiegelungen. Diese in ihrer Architektur ungewöhnliche Kirche ist es wirklich wert, gezeigt zu werden. Ein herrlicher Anblick!

Γειά σου Σάκη! Μαντεύω το σημείο και τον φακό που χρησιμοποιείς! Αν κρίνω από το αποτέλεσμα και την ποιότητα στην φωτεινότητα επίσης και την τεχνική σου! Μου άρεσαν τα εφφέ των φώτων κάτω, τα χρώματα και η διαγώνια προοπτική με την αριστη επιλογή της θέσης Εκκλησίας και πύργου! Αριστη και η αντίθεση της νύχτας στο σχεδόν χρυσαφί της όμορφης αρχιτεκτονικης γραμμής.

WooW! What an architecture and that great expertise of Sakis exposure!
I like a lot how you chose that great POV and arranged the (probably) best compo. Maybe one day i'll see those places... Sigh...
