Photographer's Note

Olive trees are one of the most characteristic elements of Mediterranean landscape. In the springtime its delicate branches are cover by small white flowers, in the winter they are burdened by the bitter tasting fruits which become brownish when the first rains start - it is a sign for the harvest.
Olive tree grows very slowly and can bear some fruit after 5 years, but can also live very long - even up to 2000 years.
Olives are apparently the most often mentioned fruit in litearature. And no wonder, since it has been always a real treasure. It guaranteed wealth and even social position. For cutting an olive tree in ancient Greece one could be either executed or banished.
