This is the lighthouse at Cape Lefkatas, located at the far most southwest point of the island Lefkada. It's more south then Vassiliki, but when you follow the main road, you first got to drive to Komilio, north from Vassiliki and then in the direction of Porto Katsiki. (southwest)
The last 4,5 kilometers need to be driven on unpaved road. I've read in the past it was 16km unpaved! And I can tell you, the road, it's terrible! I have never(!) droven a scooter over such a terrible road, it's hell, really!
Little rocks everywhere, pain in my hands from steering and manouvring to avoid edgy stones. But we we're destined to get at Cape Lefkatas, so we moved along...slowly.
It took us atleast 25 minutes to drive 4,5km down the road, going back we we're quicker, lucky us. My girlfriend actually got pain in here back when driving that road, from backing up all bumps!
Following the road with a scooter is not recommended! but the location is nice, it's worth it!
Cape Lefkatas is the place where renowned Greek female poet Sappho allegedly leapt to her death from the 100 foot (30m) high cliffs. There are spectacular views across to Ithaca and Kefalonia in the south, however the 16km (10 mile) unpaved road is enough to put off all but the most determined.

That's what I said about the 16km in the past!

Le point de vue est vraiment magnifique. Le cadrage est bon et les couleurs sont bonnes.
J'aime beaucoup cette photo et j'ai un faible pour les phares.

Great, balanced composition in this one. Some would say that you should have put the horizon on the upper of lower third of the picture (as in the "books"), but I think that in this case your choice is excellent. Lighthouses are one of my favorite subjects although sometimes they transit certain feeling of melancoly and lonellines, as this one, standing on the edge of a rock, "lonely" looking at the inmense sea. Congratulations!

Don't fall off!
That is a pretty high rock, and a beautiful one I may add.
Composition is great, the lighthouse is placed nicely in the frame.
Colours work well too, the sky is maybe a bit pale but it doesn't matter.

Excellent composition with grade framing kai lighting. A picture full of emotions. Wonderful atmosphere!!
Mondaychild (378) 2006-12-13 5:10
well done! The light creates an unique (and a bit strange) atmosphere ... as it falls on the lower part of the cliff. Furthermore, the clouds in the sky seem to be blue, too (and not white which is the common color for clouds ...)
@Something completly different:
Concerning the fact that the photo is marked as a favorite but no person´s name appear (as you wrote): Somebody marked the photo as favorite - and then he removed it. The user´s name will disappear but it still counts as a favorite.
(I know that because I marked one favorite user twice, then I removed him, but I still see the higher number of favorite users)

Very nice capture of the impressive cliffs at the southernmost point of Lefkas. My grandmother used to tell me a story about an aunt of mine who jumped from this cliffs because of lovesickness.
