It Don't Mean a Thing (if it aint got that swing). I thought the title of the Duke Ellington composition would be perfect for this shot. What had made me train my camera (so impertinently) at this attractive girl was her pony tail. It swung from side to side as she walked and caught my eye. A split second later I thought 'what an attractive girl' and took aim. I was aiming to catch her as her hair, caught up in a pony tail, made a swing from side to side as she walked. I missed.
PS Uploading this I noticed that I could have uploaded a larger image. Oh well, I'll remember for next time.

Swinging pony tail or not she is still a good model and you managed a good shot with such fine sharpness and exposure. I guess you didn't have many seconds for adjustments. You even managed to include all of her right hand, with a margin as well. I am sure I would have crippled her. Some impertinence is necessary for good street shots.

Excellent shot, Bev!
for a quick aim and shoot the light, the detail, sharpness? ALL are just outstanding. She's a beautiful girl and you even gave us a sense of the rhythm of her walk... Very well done! many thanks and warmest wishes,

The girl is beautiful and that is enough.

I am so impressed that you were able to get such a good shot so quickly, well composed and with such fine details. She definitely conveys a sense of movement, maybe from the position of her arms and hips.
A well judges dof to concentrate on this very attractive lady.
Have a great day,

Yes, of course, if it ain't got that swing; but for a fleeting moment I thought it might be 'if she ain't got that bling', although I hate that word with a vengeance and realised you would never use it.
This one really stood out in the gallery today. Your excellent note explains well why it's a decisive moment. Pity about the swinging hair not having that swing at the crucial moment, but it's a small loss to such a pleasing image of youth in the sun. Terrific exposure with a nice row of columns behind her. Good to see you didn't allow her to escape the frame as you lined up the shot.

A great tune, suits this photo perfectly (I'll have this picture in my mind next we play it). This is also a great composition, with the long lines of parallel pillars behind her.

Candid street photography can be fun when you spotted this opportunity from fairly some distance away based on the focal length while the subject probably unaware of your lens. People are most natural when they are not being observed and you caught her spontaneously and the moment precisely. But i share the difficulty you encountered from my experience here while trying to focus continueously, actually the subject is constantly moving away from focus. Thus, credit to your quick reflexes coz the 'moment' tends to only occur once and we don't have second chances. Never mind about the swung ponytail that you missed, her natural expression & strides made the shot and I am happy compositionally as well as with the quality, Splendid capture, TFS

This is a brilliant candid street capture, the subject is beautiful and extremely photogenic, but she is placed so well in her urban setting. You really did this perfectly! Her eyes are captivating.
Nicely done, cheers

Hello dear Bev
Great and so natsural portrait image. She did not take some pose and her natural expression is so fantastic to see. Nice cropping and allocation the space at right side are very good idea based on your originality.
Thanks a lot and have a good day! Takero

Hello Bev - A perfect title for the wonderfully feminine walk of this young lady. A fine candid street portrait with inferred movement (never mind that the ponytail didn't cooperate)
Enjoy your weekend

Hi Bev. The most exciting in the photograph is still the direct confrontation with a man. How does he react? What is his view? Is he ultimately cooperative? Here everything has worked out somehow. The word troika in the background fits very well into the composition. I like the photo.

We were there in the same time! Excellent portrait in the Corfu town interior. The background reminds me these streets again. Unfortunately, we can't to see her pony tail ;)
Have a great new week!
