Colourful boat of Margarona Photo

Photographer’s Note

There are dozens of lagoons around the Ambracian Gulf. The bigger ones among them, can be found on the north side of the Gulf, on the part that belongs to Arta Prefecture (Rodia, Logarou, Tsoukalio etc) and are considered some of the most important wetlands and biospheres in Greece.

Very close to the town of Preveza you can find some smaller lagoons (Margarona, Pogonitsa, Mazoma, Tsopeli), which may not be as important biospheres as the ones mentioned above, but they are also very pretty. Here's a photo from Margarona, the closest one to Preveza. In this photo you can see a typical flat-bottomed boat of the shallow waters (lakes, lagoons), which are usually called (depending on the region), "plavas", "priaria" or "gaitas".

Hi, Hercules. The boat must have been painted for photographs. Its vivid colours contrast very well with the water. The boat is very well placed, making a nice diagonal line in the composition. the first autumn colours on the other side are also very pleasant to look at. The colours and light are very well managed.

Nice shot of this colorful boat! The positioning and angle of the boat makes for nice composition. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness and DOF. The reflection of the landscape and building provides nice depth and balance for the scene.

That's a wonderful picture, specially for its magnificent colors and management of light, its vertical format where the composition is truly effective and attractive with all the elements so nicely placed in the frame! The boat in the fg is a real highlight, with all its details and placed diagonally in the image! The reflection pleases me too as well as the sky, even with those grey clouds up there!

The lateral light enhances the vivid colours of the boat which seems flying over the dark water. I would have cropped the shot to remove the sky.

this is a very beautiful composition with these wonderful colors of the Mediterranian. The sky is amazing. I also like this nostalgic atmosphere a lot. But I wish the white house would have been somewhere else! (And I know there is nothing to do upon it, it is just too modern). Nevertheless it is a very pleasant impression. TFS!
