Photographer’s Note

Igoumenitsa is a charming and prosperous port town with lots of green, beaches with crystal clear blue waters, and green mountains surrounding the town. An orthodox priest who had boarded the bus at Kozani was leading a pilgrimage to a Greek Orthodox Church in Ancona, Italy. After a march through town, they would be catching a ferry across the Mediterranean Sea. This was taken from the deck of a ferry headed to Corfu.

I remember Igoumenitsa in the early 80ties, the port for travelling from Livorno to Greece.
A photograph of the port with full details. Good composition and interesting colours.

You had lots of venues on your Greece trip and a very wide variety of images. Unusual composition with the framing from the ferry. Perfect focusing and DOF to avoid blurring of teh "frame". Well done

Hi Pat,
The large ferry boats contrast nicely with the turquoise waters of the calm harbor. The rugged mountains and blue sky make a lovely backdrop to this charming image. Very nice colors with excellent details and sharpness.

nice vacation composition. the whole scene has strong greenish cast as suggested by the tint of the white boat surfaces, but i agree with it for this photo: renders the water luminously turquoise like. well seen and presented.

Belle photo de ces beaux bateaux pris sous ce pont, bon POV qui nous permet de bien voir ces bateaux promenade de derrière et de la a s' imaginer que l' on a qu' a embarquer pour y faire un tour il n' y a qu' un pas.

I like the unusual composition where you've done the framing through the ferry 'window'. Maybe a slight cropping on the right? The focus and DOF is spot on, but I see a tinge of greenish tone in the image, or am I seeing things?

Like the Kerkyra photo, that I saw a few moments ago, this seems to be too blue (or green); I guess the boats are supposed to be white.
I also don't like the "frame" on top and right. And now I'm reading Pablo below this box; he liked the framing. That's it. Fortunately people have different tastes.

Hi Pat,
This photo has all of the elements of good travel photography. It is well composed with good lighting but most importantly, it conveys an excellent perspective for the layout of the Greek coastline and their ferry system. You created an excellent photo of this beautiful port and I have a better feel for the layout of the coastline of Greece. The water is amazing! Superb!
