Cretan Holy Water (Raki), a photo from Lasithi, Crete

Photographer's Note

Back to my hometown (Ierapetra, Crete) and back to my favorite subject, Raki (hic!) and Rakokazano (Raki distilation). In one of my first photos here in TE, "Raki distillers", you can see (and read in the note) part of the process. Now you see the result. Clear, strong (very often over 50 degrees of alcohol) traditional drink of Creta. As i've already written, satisfaction guaranteed, no hangover included.Every year between October and November, there is a fiesta going on all over Crete!

*First desaturated and then took the history brush tool and gave back to some things their original colour. Probably the easiest "trick" in Photoshop.

Hago una pequeña pausa (estoy acabando un trabajo que debo de presentar en los próximos días) y veo esta foto.
Me gusta mucho la composición y el uso del foco y la luz.
Una buena foto, sin duda.

Interesante imagen, buen contraste entre los tonos en color y el resto, apesar del desenfoque se aprecia muy bien el momento, un muy buen resultado creativo, felicidades.

Μόνο όταν συμμετέχεις στο βράσιμο, που σημαίνει και στο δοκίμασμα των πρώτων...σταγώνων μπορείς να έχεις μαζί με τις καλές ιδέες και καλά αποτελέσματα.
Αχ πότε νάρθει ο Νοέμβρης.

Εξαιρετική η αντίθεση του ποτηριού με το ρακί (πράγματι θεϊκό!) και της φωτιάς στο παρασκήνιο. Εξαιρετική δουλειά ως προς το νετάρισμα. Πολλή καλή κι αντιπροσωπευτική για την όμορφη Κρήτη μας.

Hot water, you mean! :))
It's a Balkanic thing or something I guess, as in Romanian we call our "hot water": "tzuica" or "rachiu" (pronounced the same as raki, plus -u); and the distillers: "cazan" :) Like it? I do!
Oh, I almost forgot about the photo: I like it very much, so colourful and "hot", a very smart PP also.

Nice bit of processing Hercules - it does the job and creates a interesting shot

Your shot has inspired me to something alcohol-related - maybe I'll go get drunk tonight, head out and see if my lanscape horizon's get any straighter - they can't get any worse :-)

Buen truco el que nos explicas aquí, y buena técnica para resaltar con claridad el vaso y dejar el resto de la foto desenfocado como si nos hubiéramos tomado unos cuantos vasos de Raki, je,je. La parte con color original destaca muy bien sobre la parte desaturada.

Hi Hercules,
Eating fish besides to sea with drinking raki always amazes me but I have never done it till now :( I tried to drink it several times but couldnt accustom myself. Anise smell irritates me :( But I always want to do this delight.
Your photo makes raki more attractive, I may try to drink it tonight:)

Saludos y felicidades por esta toma, la cual acabo de descubrir. Es maravillosa en todos aspectos (foco, composición de elementos, etc.) y la nota que acompaña la foto es muy informativa... aunque este procedimiento en Photoshop es "facil", tengo que aprenderlo. Oye, también me llama esta bebida --el raki-- ¡me gustaría probarla algun día!
