Photographer’s Note

Agios Nikolaos, capital of the Prefecture of Lasithi, is one of the most highly developed tourist towns in Greece.
It lies along the west of the Mirabello bay. The main road axis of the island passes right outside the city limits , connecting it with Iraklion (66 km) to the west, Sitia to the east (70 km) and Ierapetra to the south (36 km).
Agios Nikolaos is the administrative, communications, cultural and commercial center of the Prefecture, with approximately 14000 inhabitants.The landmark of the city is a small lake, known as "Voulismeni" that is located in the center of the city, at the foot of the cliffs. Its shape is circular with a diameter of 137m.
According to the mythology, the goddess Athena used to take her bath in this lake. The depth of the lake is 64 m and was connected to the sea only recently, with a canal opened at 1870.
It is an especially picturesque site with many open-air cafes and restaurants along the bank. Small boats leave the harbor to visit the Venetian fortress of Spinaloga, near Elouda .

Hello luciano,
The colours of Greece all captured in this lovely view of this pretty harbour.
The composition and POV showing the foreground boats then off to the shops and restaurants on the opposite side is splendid.
For a change the cloudy sky gives a different view of what one has come to expect from the skies over Greece.
For me maybe just a bit more saturation but, nonetheless a very pretty image.

Hi Luciano,

Agios Nikolaos! I was there many years ago and I liked it the most on Crete. Splendid colourful houses and boats. Very nice shot. Have you been in Spinalonga? I found it very interesting and I would see the photos with pleasure. Regards

la composizione è molto ben riuscita ed impreziosisce un paesaggio che rischiava di essere anonimo.
Qui invece c'è un bel gioco di diagonali arricchito da bei colori, che rende la foto molto piacevole.

Bonjour Luciano,

Il est dans tes habitudes assez fortement tes photos, le cas encore une fois ici avec des contrastes et des couleurs poussés à l'extrême. Un post processing qui malheureusement se voit un peu trop fort. Le résultat est toutefois très agréable.

Prediligi sempre tinte pastello con marcature proprie del pittore "riso" che se guardi sul web proprio le barche davanti.

la foto e' molto bella solo che mi sembra essere passata in varecchina, la trovo poco incisiva nei colori, come ti ho detto prima in privato cerca di giocare sulle regolazioni e vedrai i miglioranti.

l'inquadratura e il soggetto (le barche in primo piano)e anche l'elaborazione mi piace per l'icisività e nitidezza complessiva, ma siccome so che ami anche le critiche sincere devo dirti che secondo il mio gusto hai un po' esagerato nella stuarazione del blu sulle barche, sui tendoni del bar e della casa a destra.
Anche le nuvole, non sarebbero state più belle con un bel grigio oscuro?
Non volermene ma per onestà te lo dovevo segnalare.

Hello luciano Excellent composition with a very pretty image the colours of St Nicolaos all captured in this lovely view of this wonderful harbour.I found it very interesting the boats in foreground make this picture attractive! The picture presents clean colours and the depth the buildings and the coast. I liked this part have a lot of tourism and important hospitality..

Anche qui una bella rilettura della scena in hdr. Lo sguardo si bilancia fra cielo in alto e barche in basso e questi due elementi si contendono un po' l'attenzione.
