Photographer’s Note

Here you see one of the bastions of the Venetian Castle at the entrance of the old Venetian port of Iraklion.The castle is known with its turkish name "Kule". It was constructed between 1523 and 1540 (during the Venetian occupation of Crete( when it took the form that you'll see if you visit it. There was an older castle in the same position that collapsed by an earthquake in 1303.

The castle was on of the shooting locations for the biography film "El Greco", directed by Yiannis Smaragdis. El Greco (real name "Dominikos Theotokopoulos") was born in Fodele, a small village, about 35 km west of Iraklion.

What an impressive work ! The large version is staggering, with so many details and a so perfect quality... No noise, an exposition well managed. A real lesson !
A great blue hour, perfectly handled. All the elements contribue to realize a fantastic picture : the lamp posts like stars, the castle learndly enlightened to enhance the stones, in a judicious panoramic format.
A big one, compliments.

A photo full of rhythm with this floodlit quay and its reflections. The alternation of colors and intensity of the lights brings of the relief and strengthens the prospect.
The large version is even more beautiful than a fireworks!

Hi Hercules,

A fascinating graphical composition with various elements all contributing to the scene.
The old wall left of all that finishing yellow light interrupted by the strong white/blue lights. And of course beautiful reflected in the water.
