sorry for the quality, it was shot through the window of the car, there was no possibility to get out...

Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece while retaining its own local cultural traits (such as its own dialect, poetry, and music). Crete was the centre of the Minoan civilization (c. 2700–1420 BC), the earliest "high culture" civilization in Europe, which built the first palaces in Europe

we suffered this nightmare too, I still remember breathing in the smoke from forest fires for almost the whole summer a couple of years ago, terrible experience. But your photo is beautiful despite the grim subject and technical difficulties. I like the documentary feel about it.

Although you are apologetic about the quality, there are many elements to like in this image.I like the scale and perspective of the composition from the near fire to the distant fire. I like the wires and poles disappearing into the smoke and I like the winding road disappearing around the corner into the fire.

In California we actually have a wildfire season; crazy huh? Dangerous but effective photo with flames and smoke. Even though this was shot through your window it still is impressive and pretty good clarity. Excellent POV and presentation Janos.

Impressive picture, not so bad because it gives us a real emotion and we can feel what appends. Impossible to stop and to take a picture, it could be a very good shot
