"Marine" war has broken out among the boat owners and the coastal fisheries, focusing on the location of their scope.
Whilst the coastal claiming to implement the EU directive of being active at a distance of 1.5 nautical miles from the coast, and "medium" fishermen claim that the Ministry of Rural Development does not reverse the present decree one mile from the coast. Both sectors are threatening protests from June 1, the date of the EU directive.
Specifically, the coastal fishermen seek to realize the election pledges of the government of PASOK, and summoned the Minister of Rural Development Katerina Batzeli it retains its predecessor's decision Minister Al. Kontos, whereby limited to fish up to a mile from the coast, despite the EU Regulation provides up to 1.5 nautical miles.
