Photographer's Note

A view across the pedestrian crossing from Syntagma Square towards Ermou (Hermes') Street, one of the most commercial streets in Athens (Hermes was the ancient god of trade and commerce, among other things).

I had missed the green light as I had lingered behind to take pictures of the Christmas decorations on the trees of the square. My friends had already crossed the street and were waiting... The stray dog lying idly on one of the busiest pavements of Athens showed me an interesting point of view. When I saw the picture, I hoped this was one of the famous riot dogs of Athens but checked it out and it isn't.

I was very surprised not to see people standing in front of me as the light was about to turn green again. It was the first of many similar surprises, Athens is incredibly photographer friendly!
