Photographer's Note

Another amphitheatre, this time in Athens, Greece, and not quite so steep as the one in Pergamum. There were no microphones back then, so acoustics were vitally important. The sound of the speaker would carry better in semi circular hillsides than on flat ground. In Rome they devised an artificial stadium at the Colosseum.
