Photographer's Note

The Hotel "Poseidonion" is a building of the early 20th century, owned by the Foundation of Anargiriou and Corgialenios School. The Foundation was established by the will of the national visionary benefactor Sotirios Anargirou to produce charitable work for the residents of Spetses.
The Poseidonion Grand Hotel has been a landmark on the Spetses skyline for nearly a century with its exceptional architecture echoing hotels of Cote d’Azur style and has first opened in 1914.
It represented the cosmopolitan face of the island and soon became one of its famous landmarks and, what is more, rapidly became a favorite destination for high society, royalty and the wealthy Athenians.
The Poseidonion was closed for many years until they decided to restore it, it took five years for its restoration to be completed and now is open again and worth visiting.
Situated in Spetses, a picturesque island, near Athens with rich naval history and lovely beaches, is more a destination for jet-setters all year long offering ultimate pampering and relaxation with panoramic views to the sea.
The statue front of the hotel is of the historical figure Laskarina Bouboulina, (11 May 1771 – 22 May 1825) who was a Greek naval commander, heroine of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, and an Admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy.
