This photo was taken on a winter afternoon in Athens, somewhere in the district of Plaka. There were two ladies talking at the doorway of the shop and I thought they made an interesting scene, so I stopped at the pavement across the street to have a look and photograph them. They saw me and one of them called in English: "Lady, 5 euros for a photo!" We all laughed and they went back to their conversation.
They were conscious of my camera by now and I didn't want to just stand across the street being annoying. As I realized that my friends had already been out of sight and turned to go, I saw this surrealistic scene by the shop's doorway. I took the picture, waved goodbye and hurried away. It would be impossible for me to elaborate on this scene in words, I wouldn't know where to start and what to make of it...
Thank you for visiting

A strange scene indeed, I can safely say I have never before seen this combination of characters in one place! The fact that the graffiti is behind makes it all the more surreal. Looking to the left and right shows even more interesting scenes, religious icons stand beside creatures of legend, while the strip lighting inside the show makes a strange backdrop.
Nicely seen, a strange one that as you say defies words!
Thanks as always

definitely a peculiar assortment of figures and the striking graffiti is also suitably unrelated :). But the composition is fine and qualifies as a striking picture with great visual appeal. The half lit areas on both sides of the picture makes a good frame. Your note is interesting and fun to read.
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

Buon weekend,Luciano

A fun story to set the image in motion, I'm sure we've all had that experience before. It's kind of fun though to play the game of "cat and mouse," right? :) Unfortunately I'm extremely short on time this evening, but I still wanted to comment on this interesting mix of subjects. As you mentioned, it's quite a collection of different items to piece together into a semblance of proper sense...but you know what, that's part of what intrigues the senses. :) Enjoy the weekend ahead. All the best.

A funny and entertaining anecdote to go with this unusual composition. A bizarre combination of objects and graffiti to say the least. Thanks for sharing.

I see here in Ghent almost the same scenes with young people in the narrow streets.
Sometimes very agressive, when she see a camera, we live in an extraordinarily world with a lot people alcohol and drugs.
Your picture is of very high of quality, perfect taken and excellent presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

The best shot always come when you not prepared and meant to take something else.
Nice "graffiti" poster in the shop, attractive with it's colors and texture, contrast to the "beauties" for sale, and nicely described the ituation.
Have a nice weekend,

I must admit that my first look was on the background wall which has been devastated by the graphics and dominates here above the statues. Honestly, I was quite shocked during uur trip to this city that the graphics are almost everywhere... Anyway, good observation and interesting presentation. TFS!

I see that I missed some of your excellent photos, this is one of them. I think it was good decision to move your camera to this interesting subject. Excellent close up with many nice details. I do not understand the meaning of the writing, but it is a nice mixture of small art with simple wall spraying.
