One of just few pictures of ancient remainings in Athens I took on my 2 days stay in this city.
Pictured here is the colonnade of the Stoa of Attalos(covered walkway or portico),which is located in Agora of Athens. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC.
In WS I enclosed another picture of it.

Fantastic graphism,a beautiful choice of point of view to create this neverending perspective made the vertical lines of the colums,a very nice 3D effect too and a very professional exposure, excellent choice of the black and white to increase the fashion of the composition! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano (my best compliments for the WS too)

minimal photography is always a good choice, this time combined with a very graphical appearance and the conversion to B&W.
I would have considered to cut away the black strip of the very left side, caused by the first pillar.

this is wonderful. So simple yet elegant and captivating. Love the B&W treatment here if makes the perspectives and lines here all the more irresistible and serene. Original and beautiful symmetry. Stunning!
Internet connection fixed now - I hope!

A modern pettern of pillars, well collected the countless number of culumns.
Great DOF and good clear image.
Simple yet an impressive and well done technically.

Hello Krzysztof - Your posted shot is so different from the WS and shows exactly how clever you have been with this B&W conversion. Your crop with the emphasis on the perspective and the wonderfully managed tones has removed this from the original subject and elevated it to an artistic and well managed shot which stands alone no matter whether or not we know the subject and location. The WS is a useful image to view in tandem with this. Warm regards Rosemary

Monochrome, simple clean lines and B&W for added impact.

A fabulous image and an excellent visualisation of the perspective. You have really thought about what your taking and it looks far more than a snap. It's lovely to see how you managed to get all those repeat pillars perfectly straight taken from such good viewpoint with remarkable sharpness in depth and clarity. This is such elegant structures filled by the immense detail, a striking historical sight and a passage of time perhaps...
Very well done shot, Congrats

Ciao e buona giornata
macjake (45588) 2013-10-10 6:24
haha, the only thing missing to put this photo over the top as a complete winner is some beautiful tall woman in a striking red dress with high heels.
Now thats how to complete a photo! haha
Did you know that if you stare long enough at this scene in one area it seems to move? it has a real graphic effect on our vision.
thats pretty cool.
gotta love the repetitive patterns like this in scenes.
well composed and executed my friend
mrichat (1361) 2013-10-10 6:32

une très belle photo en N&B, la perspective avec les colonnes forme un graphisme et un jeux de lumière et d'ombre extraordinaire.
ourania (18704) 2013-10-10 12:58
this is a magnificent architectural picture, so finely composed and treated. You chose a superb angle to show the graphism of the architecture and the shadows rendering it absolutely captivating. The perspective and the repetition of patterns and tonalities are marvellous and give the elegant composition an effect of dynamism and movement. The harmony of the grey tones is most delightful. The workshop picture is really useful for us to better realize the value of your work and interpretation. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,

La géométrie verticale est rigoureuse pour cette image cadrée verticalement et réalisée en B&W.Superbe redu graphique.
mjw364 (6142) 2013-10-10 13:29
Nice depth and perspective composed in such a way that it creates geometric shapes and patterns giving a sense of an underlying abstract quality to the image overall.

Good morning Krzysztof,
Another picture from the trip, another smashing result! :) At its core, the obvious repetitive pattern and shapes are the first thing noticed...and with big impact. What really gets my attention though is the soft contrast of light and shadow...most highly visible on the columns of course, but the spaces around the base of each one, and the highlights in between is what stands out for me. It has kind of that zig-zag zipper appearance that's the minor detail which gives it all that little bit of added "punch."
Amazing to see what an adjustment in positioning can do for an image, and you've illustrated that succinctly by including the WS picture for comparison. This has a much stronger visual and perspective, and the monochrome conversion suits this splendidly for that graphic appeal.
My eyes also make out alternating shades of grey, following the convergence of perspective into the distance, like 4 bands of sun rays (the floor, columns split in two by the difference in design, and the darker rooftop.) I don't know if that makes much sense...just the way I'm seeing this!? Anyway, terrific shot my friend...keep 'em coming!
Wishing you a great day ahead,
dkmurphys (42567) 2013-10-11 0:37
Perfect line of...lines:P True artistic work here, well taken.
Enjoy a nice day.

so you were in Athens a week ago and we don't meet each other? What a pity!! Never mind this is a very nice and effective scene with the POV to creates this great perspective and depth from the columns of the Stoa of Attalos.

Witaj dear Krzysztof
Wow, this one is a cracker. Excellent choice the B&W. I love the clean lines, the perspective and the wonderful graphism created by the repeating columns. The lines on the floor also help. A superbly composed shot - again the vertical a great choice - and sensational minimalism.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely weekend
Noel_Byrne (13416) 2013-10-11 8:02
First, let me say that B&W is a stunning choice for this scene, making it instantly look like a classical shot, and of classical columns too. the sense of depth created here is really superb, and it sucks the eye into the shot, and down that corridor. To compliment that, the area of dark in the roof, and very pleasing light fro the left creates excellent details on the stonework of the columns themselves.
beautifully composed, taken and presented, as ever thanks for sharing.

A recurrent and simple subject but always eye-catching.
Not so easy to find the good angle but you found it.
I desperate each time I try B/W and I find that so nice done by the others. :(

I love this magnificent vertical composition Stoa of Attalos, pride that conjunction of vertical lines with diagonal marks the colonnade, perfect the graphics of the image, which I think is accentuated in this presentation in B & W.
Also both sharpness, such as lighting are appropriate.
Well done. I like
Enjoy a nice day.

Stunning capture of these ancient coloumns. A very good subject for a b&w choice. The long row of coloumns creates a great perspective and good depth, and also a very nice graphism. Excellent cut and great presentation. Lovely work! TFS.
Have a nice day.
