The 328 was a sports car, which was manufactured by the BMW factory between the years 1936 and 1940. Designed by Kurt Joachimson featured many advanced for the time characteristics, as tube frame, rack-and-pinion type direction system, hydraulic clutch, hydraulic brake system and ‘KRONPRINZ’ wheels with central bolt. The 328 Roadsters were available to professional racing drivers but also to amateurs-privateers. It was considered to be one of the best sports cars before 1940 who were the winners in the 2,000cc class in every important race they had entered and continued to win important races after the war, either with this car or with its direct successors, i.e. the ‘Frazer Nash’ Le Mans replica from Great Britain and the ‘Veritas’ from Eastern Germany. It was impressive indeed that the small six-cylinder 328 cars, for which the reliable mechanic Fritz Fledler was responsible, were ahead from all bigger and more powerful racing cars in the competition.
