Castle Niederburg Photo

Some weeks back ...
This is the ruin of castle Niederburg (lower castle - there's an upper castle too) which towers on a ridge high above Moselle river and the village Kobern. My picture shows the view from the upper castle.
Castle Niederburg was built in the middle of the 12th century and it was occupied by its owners, the noble family "von Isenburg-Kobern until the middle of the 14th century when it was sold to the bishop of Trier (Treves). In 1688 is was destroyed.

Today there still is a three-story donjon and some walls of the ancient great hall.

Lefthand under the castle's terrain you can see a path, the "Via Crucis" with a row of small "houses". They shelter sculptures showing the single Stations of the Cross. The steep path is leading up from the village to the Matthias Chapel high above the Moselle valley. You can see the river left behind the castle's hill.

Kobern is one of the numerous viticultural communities in Moselle valley as you can see in the foreground. The picture was taken when the vines still were leafless.

A beautiful landscape! Good to include a tree in the foreground to give some depth and perspective. Nice with half of the valley in shadow, attractive contrast to the sunlit part!

Hello Frank,
Did I somewhere already not see this castle? Splendidly seated himself comfortably local, which surely was difficult to the transitus by aggressors. The river Mosel shines in the distance. Nice picture with a well planned composition. The wide perspective is very much here useful. In the distance, behind the river I see yellow fields - is this the rape, or the charlock?

Bravo pour avoir su choisir le panorama permettant de valoriser ce magnifique paysage. Tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour que l'on puisse apprécier cette réalisation.
Ce château trônant sur une motte semble défier encore les invasions !

hättest du das Bild in diesen Tagen gemacht, wäre es sehr grün geworden (BsP.: mein heutiger Up-load); zum Bild: wie fast alle deine Aufnahmen ist es von sehr schöner ausstrahlung (Schärfe, Tiefe, und Gestaltung), mein Kompliment...

Bonjour Frank ,
Un superbe point de vue sur ce paysage de collines et de vignobes , avec le regard qui est attiré vers le donjon du château .
J'aime moins l'arbre à gauche . Il aurait fallu qu'il ait une forme différente , ou qu'il monte jusqu'au coin supérieur , par exemple .

ein wirklich schönes Bild von einer tollen Landschaft, die man am liebsten gleich erkunden möchte. Der gelbe Farbtupfer von dem Rapsfeld ist noch das Tüpfelchen auf dem i.

Hallo Frank,
und jetzt wieder eine schöne und romantische Landschaft. Die Wolken haben geschickt geholfen das Bild beweglicher zu machen. Über den Ausschnitt habe ich etwas lamentiert (mit engerem Ausschnitt könnte man die Burg besser hervorheben, die Landschaft ist aber in diesem Fall genauso wichtig), ich hätte es aber wahrscheinlich genauso gemacht, allerdings mit aufgesetztem Polfilter.
