BMW Headquarters (also BMW Tower, or literally from
German: "BMW four-cylinder") is a Munich landmark, which has been serving as world headquarters for the Bavarian automaker for over 30 years. The building was declared historical in 1999. An extensive remodel commenced in 2004 and was completed in 2006.

The Tower was built between 1968 and 1972 and was ready just in time for 1972 Summer Olympics. Its inauguration followed on 18 May 1973. The building stands 101 m (roughly 331 feet) tall, is located in direct proximity of the Olympic Village and is often mentioned as one of the most notable examples of modern architecture in Munich. The tower's exterior is supposed to mimic the shape of a cylinder in a car engine, with the museum representing the cylinder head. Both buildings were designed by architect Karl Schwanzer[1].

The main tower consists of four vertical cylinders standing next to and across from each other. Each cylinder is divided horizontally in its center by a mold in the facade. Notably, these cylinders do not stand on the ground, they are suspended on a central support tower. During the construction, individual floors were assembled on the ground and then elevated. The tower has a diameter of 52.30 meters (roughly 171 feet). The building has 22 occupied floors, two of which are basements and 18 serve as office space.

Hello Mark,
You have captured this well known building with sharp fine details!
This kind of architecture is difficult to make into a sensible composition but I think you do well here...
Good point of view!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Belle capture Mark avec un beau ciel en fond. J'aime le graphisme de ces tours jumelles. Il y a quelque chose qui émerge en bas à droite, il aurait suffi d'un coup de tampon pour le faire disparaitre.
Jacques

Hello my friend,
An unusual picture but really interesting with
useful notes. Thanks for your photo and for your notes
Greetings
Costantino

Hello my friend Mark,
Just like our friend Pablo said, it is hard to compose such a architecture photo, but you had done it well with the inclusion of the beautiful sky!
the subject is so sharp with good colour and you had made good use of the sun angle here that created lovely light and shadows on the architecture!
very well done!
regards
Tony

Hallo Mark,
A very neat POV, very well balanced, of that original building that not so surprisingly reminds much a piece of a motor engine. Spotless clarity and sharpness.
Regards, José.

Mark,
a nice off center treatment of this impressive BMW tower. The blue and white of the BMW emblem is more or less the same blue and white that you got in the sky. Nice detail!
Peter

Hello Mark
Excellent view of this headquarter. The blue sky behind fits well with the colors of the building. Nice sky, great details and useful note.
Well done!
Best regards
Denis!

the blue border is not my cup of tea, but the photo itself is well framed and show us an interesting building, funny and excellent idea from the one who decided to built a giant four cylinder !

Hello Mark,
Never seen this tower before, how nice. Your composition with the tower a bit to the left but also the other building on the right below gives you a very interesting composition. You have a good eye in seeing things...well done.
Regards, Henk

Hallo Mark!

Hi Mark
A good graphical shot with the building placed nicely off-centre. The nice blue sky serves as the perfect backdrop. Nice work.
Best wishes
Mark

Bonsoir Mark,

A building with the futurist architecture and rather photogenic. I like the visual effects that it creates. This splendid blue sky emphasizes well this whole of offices. Interesting glance Mark and thank you for the instructive note.

With all my friendships and a very good evening,

Jean-Charles
