Memories Church Photo

Photographer’s Note

Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtnis-Kirche or Memories Church as is also called is located near the Kufurstendamm street and is one of Berlin main attraction for turists.
It was developed by Franz Schechten in a Neo-Romantic style in 1895. The second World War bombardments destroyed it in 1943 and after clearing the ruins only a part of the tower was still up.
In 1961 Egon Eiermann drawed a new church in a octogonal shape with a new tower bell appart.
Inside the old church is still possible to see some of the old mosaics that decorated the old building.

Strong composition Daniel. It works very well, especially the use of the road markings to fill the foreground.
Just one small point - I think it would have worked even better if you could have included a vehicle entering the frame in the other lane (not the bus lane), preferably with plenty of movement blur. The shot would have been less static, and more dynamic.
I like it though, and your shot certainly gives us a more unusual and interesting view of this famous landmark.

Good shot of this famous monument, which is usually seen from the front and not the side. the prominence of the word "Bus" in the foreground is unsual, and I really don't know what to make of it - would be better if there actually was a bus visible. Nice perspective though, and a good shot!

Hi Daniel,
Good photo of the old and impressive memorial church in Berlin. The sunlight was pleasant and the blue, partly cloudy sky is enhancing too. Great compostion with a good inclusion of the "BUS" lane in the foreground. Thanks for sharing!

Olá Daniel, são 3 excelentes fotos num post bem apresentado. O interior da igreja nova está fabulosa. Esta é bem escolhida para principal e gosto bastante da originalidade deste BUS a encher o 1º plano. Mesmo assim talvez cortasse um pouco em baixo para eliminar os traços do canto esquerdo - travam um pouco o efeito perspéctico das linhas brancas laterais. O resto está impecável. Parabéns.
É das poucas coisas de que me lembro nas poucas coisas que passei nesta cidade, há muitos anos atrás...

Vejo que ainda arranjaste algum tempo para fotos. Boa composição, gosto especialmente do "Bus" em primeiro plano. A igreja rodeada de edifícios modernos também ficou muito bem.As do Ws também estão boase dão uma boa ideia da igreja.

I really like how you composed this shot Daniel. The large letters spelling BUS really dominate the bottom half, providing interest in the foreground, while having a beautiful old church in the background with nice lighting.
