Photographer’s Note

Das Kloster St. Margareth zu Baumburg verdankt seine Existenz einem Gelöbnis von Berengar von Sulzbach im Jahr 1105 beim Tode seiner Frau Gräfin Adelheid von Marquartstein. Um 1107/09 gründete Graf Berengar sein neues Stift und besetzte es mit Augustiner Chorherren, die er zuvor zur Errichtung des Stifts Berchtesgaden aus Rottenburg berufen hatte.Auf den ersten Propst Eberwein folgte bis 1163 Gottschalk als Propst des Stifts Baumberg. In seiner Amtszeit wurde 1129 eine Nikolauskirche geweiht und bis 1156 die romanische Basilika St. Margareth erbaut. Dort liegt seither die Stifterin Adelheid begraben. Um diese Zeit übertrug der Erzbischof von Salzburg der Propstei Baumburg ein Archidiakonat. Damit fungierte der Propst als Stellvertreter des Erzbischofs für die kirchliche Gerichtsbarkeit, die Kirchenaufsicht sowie die Vermögensverwaltung. 1185 wurde diese Funktion vom Papst bestätigt.

Hello Georg,
An excellent point of view on this very imposing church under a saturated blue sky, which makes a fine foil for the architecture. Some appealing light and shadow play along the walls. Very good colours and clarity.

Piêkna budowla. Szczególnie ciekawie prezentuj± siê te nietypowe kopu³y. Ciekawie kontrastuje ciemna fasada z biel± bocznych elewacji.
Dobre ujêcie, w³a¶nie taki widok boczno przedni dodaje urokowi tej budowli. Zastanawiam siê tylko, czy mo¿liwe by by³o zrobienia zdjêcia gdy s³oñce o¶wietla przedni± fasadê.

Beautiful photo of this Basilika. With its white walls, it stands wonderfully out against the very blue sky. The strong winter light is very enhancing too. Excellent composition.

Great view of this fine church. The angle of the shot is great giving us a nice sense of depth with excellent detail. The low angle lighting provides deep shadows which gives us nice contrast. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail.

Proszę, jaki to koścół Małgorzacie wystawili. Przypuszczam, że to Małgorzata z Antiochii (mam imionnik i sa trzy święte Małgorzaty wymienione), patronka Nowego Sącza i Tucholi. a kościół wspaniały, szczególnie te niezwykłe zielonkawe kopuły, zwłaszcza na tle nieba. Masz ty dobrze w tej Bawarii, takie wspaniałe obiekty do fotografowania i jeszcze Ci (wczoraj) pogoda sprzyjała.
