Photographer’s Note

Snapshot / candid photo.
The Documenta (16.06.-23.09.2007) is the exhibition for contemporary art, most meaning world wide. It takes place only every 5 years.

The large sized and very impressive photos of the artist Guy Tillim with the title "Congo democratic" originated in to 2006 in the time before the elections of the president and parliament. They show the civil commotion.
Before the picture a young pair stands. It seems nearly, as if the man with the sun glasses would look up to the young woman.

Yes, indeed the man does seem to be looking st the younger viewer as if to say what can you do to help, whilst she is comforted by her boy friend. Excellent capture.

How romantic that couple appreciating a violent photo but at the same time trying to comfort each other from the turmoil scene in front of them ... well captured. Indeed the man in the photo with dark glasses was looking at the couple ... good POV. Well composed ... excellent work! tfs

Nice equal measure of softness and contrast here. Your exposure is top notch; have you though about a horizontal crop: maybe just about her neck and just below the above photo.

Ein nicht alltägliches Foto, wie Du den Leuten hier über die Schulter schaust und die Fotografien der Aausstellung einbeziehst - und sogar noch eine Beziehung zu den Besuchern herstellst. Irgendwie "ist man dabei" ...

Wieder ein sehr creatives Foto Deiner Dokumenta Serie.Du Hast wieder mal ein gutes Auge gehabt um dieses Motiv zu erkennen.Ich finde es toll die Besucher von hinten zu sehen und zu versuchen Ihre Gedanken zu lessen.Der Mann mit Sonnenbrille sieht aus als ob er sich erschrocken,oder eher beobachtet umdreht.

the pov is great, the details are super, the hand on the back of the girl is a fine detail to, good art shot I like it.

Hi Wolfgang,

I love this.. Of course, I thought that was a real person in the bottom corner from the thumbnail, but I was pleasently surprised when I opened up. Here, I am reminded of a computer manipulated image - I think it is the textures which make me feel this. I think the colours are just lovely and I wanted to add to the slightly "unrealistic" feel. I tried a workshop. Not sure if this adds anything...

noch Eins von deinen kunstvollen documenta Fotos, Man weiß garnicht was einen mehr beindruckt, die Fotos im Hintergrund ode die Pose des Paares.

Of your two shots I received in my favourites of you today, I like this one the most - and that was with a street length! Not that the other one isn't good, but this one is really clever. I have to agree with other comments. It's wonderful how you created an interaction between the photo on the wall and the couple viewing it. Really nice work!
Keep on posting for months on the Documenta!!

Hi Wolfgang. You're right, he seems to be looking up at her. This is a first class shot, very cleverly composed, and with something meaningful to say about the nature of the divided, often violent, world. Well seen and well exposed.

eine interessantes und schönes Foto. Betrachter und Gegenstand der Beobachtung verschmelzen miteinander. Beim ersten kuzen Blick auf dein Foto dachte ich, der Mann mit der Sonnenbrille sitzt im Raum und dreht sich zu der Frau um. Toller Effekt.

Excellent and effective compo. I like the framing and the compo-that couple seen from behind, the poster on the wall, his hand, the man with sun-glasses on the poster, the brown tones. Well seen.

Hi Wolfang,
Excellent shot. Like in "The Purple Rose of Cairo" in which a movie character jumps out the screen and enters into the theatre to talk to a member of the audience, here we have the feeling that the man with sunglasses just noticed the presence of the couple and took a look :)) Well seen and perfectly composed. Congratulations!

That hand of the young man as it rests on his girlfriend's waist is to me the highlight here in juxtaposition with the photo by Tillim. That hand, that reminds me of that of David with its veins, long fingers. But that is only part of the story here, the shot is indeed filled with richness and great interest, Wolfgang!

Hi Wolfgang. I love how you got this shot with the guy in the dark side of the frame. His arm around her waist while the man in the photo looks out at them almost.. Very good very catching photo. One of my favorites by you.

Wolfgang, es ist bereits einige Zeit vergangen seit ich ein letztes Mal eines von Deinen Docmenta Bilder gesehen habe. In der Zwischenzeit hast Du munter weiter gemacht und ich muss sagen, dass es immer besser wird. Die Illusion dieser Situation hier ist einfach wunderbar. Wer ist wo und wer wird wirklich betrachtet?

Your series of images taken of contemporart art are superb, and all reflect very interesting perspectives of the various artists. Your compositions and POV's are themselves a work of art, and like this image, you have created a picture within a picture. I agree, it looks like the Congolese man is looking up at the cuple who are looking at him. Very well captured.
