Photographer’s Note
After Governor Arnold gave us a nice send-off, here we are heading for Frankfurt Germany. We had a short layover in Maine prior to this long flight.
The picture quality would have been better but I didn't want to wake anybody with the flash. We will spend a short time in Frankfurt and then continue on to Kuwait. If you'll excuse me now, I believe I'll go back to sleep. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(PS Thanks Norbert for "State" clarification for Germany.)
Regards,
Phil

Hi Phil, hope all is well. Yes, this sure falls into the "decisive moment" category I guess. Some technical deficiencies in this one like tilt and lack of sharpness, but for me this is really not the kind of photo to argue about stuff like that, it is very valuable as a documentary of a side of the military operations that we don't get to see in the media. Thanks for sharing it.
P.S. Regarding the state, you were very close with "Rheinland-Pfalz", but the correct one for Frankfurt would be "Hessen" ;-) [you can change this in the "edit" section for your photos, if you like; within 24 hrs it will make a "Frankfurt" city dot appear on the Germany map of your profile page]

The life is not a scene from cinema. Lovely image, I really like it. We all dream, there is nothing to distinguish us in it. Great shot, thanks Philip!

Phil, you have many good documentary shots. I think you are doing what exactly TE is suppose to be about -- showing others the world. I agree with Norbert on his points of this pic, the technical aspects isn't even a thing I would critique with a photo like this. Thank you for sharing!

Very poiniant shot. It is now more than 6 months after it was taken. It leads me to wonder what the faces of these young men will look like on their flight back home. I hope when you go home you will take another. Take care over there.

This photo conveys the feeling of claustrophboia & jet-lag that is often the result of a long flight.

hi phil
thanks for comments on my picture, which is why ive taken time to look through your pics
i decided to make comment on this pic because at first view i thought why a pic of people on a plane, after reading the notes you realise the importance of the pic because of the destination. it gives a sad feeling as i now know the full extent of the war, and when you took this you didnt fully know what was ahead. i only hope that all the people on the flight were also on the flight home
a poignent moment
well done
