Violon Maker, Trier, Germany.
During my recent visit to the nearby Trier, I found a very nice and interesting shop owned by Mr Kling. Josef Kling is a violin maker, who builds, repairs and sells violons, as well as other string instruments.
On this picture you can see the master whilst tuning a nice violon. In the background, the open arch allows a sneak into the atelier. Many thanks to Mr Kling for agreeing to be pictured ;-) |

Ah, some people can't be replaced by a machine, eh, Mike? Beautiful documentary tribute to a craftsman. Nice composition and use of available light. (I use that same lens sometimes on my Nikon. It's pretty nice.) Nice work. Good picture. -Hugh

Hello Mike,
A truly remarkable photograph that shows an expert at work. I find this journalistic style growingly useful. The photo is technically excellent with good sharpness considering the 1/25 sec.
Best wishes,
Hakan
Mike: one thing I've learned from TE, is that the most important thing about a travel-portrait is the inclusion of environmental details to help articulate your shot. This one excells. Very tastefully composed too. regards, c
this picture has a documentary value! thanks for sharing Mike!

Nice environmental portrait, Mike. Yu show us the man among his violins with great clarity and good colors. I think a more modern and erhaps "daring" approach wuld have entailed getting closer to him with the lens even (to the risk of distroting a bit), a more intimate approach might yield more passion. But your shot is very competent.
Best,
Francis
