Photographer’s Note
I'm not sure whether it was by chance, or whether it was because I was in a city with a high number of strip clubs and brothels, but I counted quite a few stores with naked mannequins greeting shoppers as they walked past.
This shop keeper was quite animated as carefully placed them into position. Happy with the way they looked with bare plastic, he locked the door and went back into his office.

Ah uniformity. Or would that be lack of uniform-ity? All this nuity ... it's a public disgrace. Where are the authorities to put that plastic-flesh peddler in his place? Wait . . . what the heck? I think he's spotted a hickey on her neck! Nicely seen. Very amusing. Thanks for sharing. (If not for wearing.) -Hugh

Salut Brendan,
D'après la vignette, je pensais à une oeuvre de Vanessa Beecroft, mais ce sont de simples mannequins...
L'homme est très bien placé et la composition fonctionne parfaitement !

Hello Brendan
Very interesting scene. Its kind of symbolic, maybe like a frankenstein looking at his creations, the moment is quite humorous,
very well captured

I never get why they assemble the mannequins in the window like that without frocks... why not dress them first before display???
Anyhow, I've seen this one on your flickr account--the three bare 'ladies' are amusing in and of themselves but the icing on the cake is the man's expression, you really get the sense that he is an artist coreographing his models, not just arranging them-- the intensity of his gaze, he looks like he's speaking! A touch mor contrast would be a personal choice of mine though.
PS: I'll be in London between the 21st and 28th of February!!!

LOVE IT!!! :-))))
You know how I adore such bizarre shots, I also love such naked mannequin shots, Brendan, the surreal that they evoke... fantastic, funny catch, excellent decisive moment so filled with wry humour...
Ravaged by humour.

I see what you mean about the mannequin shot. It is similar in the way you get the inreraction between people and mannequins and build a story on it. You did a good job of composing this in a nice classic rue of thirds way and then throwing a monkey wrench into that.

hi brendan,
maybe they just had very succesful sales going on and completely ran out of clothing :) ... anyways, this is a well seen and crafted image - love the look on the shop keeper's face: like he's checking to see if the 'girls' are happy and content or their make-up is in perfect order ... and the look on the 'girl's' faces: like they are cool with everything going on, even naked - it's their job
well done and tfs,
dora

The expression on his face is great, just what is it that he's staring at? :) Good timing.
