Outside Alesi's Helmet... Photo

Photographer’s Note

Again a reflection shot taken during the drivers presentation of the German Touring Cars (DTM) Season 2004 in Hamburg. It was a big event with a show race round the Inner Alster river. Rumours say that the race was stopped after half an hour because residents called the police threatening with a preliminary injunction that it was just too loud. I have been to some formula one races but I can't say that these German Touring Cars are "quieter". They also unleash pandemonium !!!
On the lower part of the helmet you see the bunch of pro photographers taking their pictures while yelling driver names to get their attention (in the workshop you see the photographers from a different angle).

Postprocessing in PS6: Some cropping and autolevels and unsharp mask.

I like the hand in the photo, letting something human in this else so technical photo. I mean colours, structures, forms, logos, the reflection - everything is cold in this well composed photo

Jan, this definitely goes straight into my Formula 1 group theme. After all, Alesi was one of the great ones there. What a lovely shot - and thanks for note. I will remember about the pandemonium - which I happen to enjoy.
The reflection in the helmet is awesome.

great reflective shot yet again, i like alot, although the person holding the helmet, his head cannot be seen, but others heads can be seen on the helmet, well done

You have really choosen the right helmet to take this picture : the brightness is so nice and the reflection gives a special savour to the photo.
I also appreciate the simple but efficient composition.

A fine, tightly cropped shot of this shiny helmet with lots of nice reflection effects. Great to see the fellow drivers "lined up" on the surface of the helmet, while the owner is just represented by the hand and the silver suit. The WS makes your accomplishment here even more impressive. Great stuff, Jan.

Is that a tip of a city hall tower reflected on the helmet?

Good decision to take the helmet instead of a fullbody shot, that would have been normal; this is beautiful.

especially the dash of red in a sea of matt and mirror surfaces

i think is an ok shot I think you are more creative than this though. the reflection is good but if you were able to see like a car in teh reflection would have made this better IMO.

Great shot, Jan, don't know how I missed this one. Amazing reflectin, reminds me the space shuttle astronautsbefore launch. I like the silver color that rules this shot. Great job.

Very fine capture of this helmet - and the surroundings.
The photographer must be there somewhere :-) Wonder if it would be one for the theme: Phptographers at work.
