Sunshine Bear
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
It was a beautiful day in Berlin when I saw that all the famous bears of Berlin were standing in a big circle in one place! (An area called Bebelplatz.) I had to go see them. Looking at the exhibit, I saw that each bear represents a country of the United Nations. There were many, many countries represented. Some you could tell by looking which country it was; others were not so easy to guess. The country names were on small labels down by the feet.
This particular bear represents Albania. I liked him because of the "sunshine" around his happy face. I wish that the people in all countries could be happy together like these bears.
They have a very nice website about these bears. You can even search to see what bear is representing a particular country. |

Wonderful capture, great notes (loved the baer for Kanada), super tight composition with very well-handled whites!

I've never heard of these bears before; thank you for bringing them to our attention and fofr the links. You chose a very creative and unusual viewpoint here, creating an almost abstract image. Interesting work

Hi Erin,
What a wonderful POV you chose! It is very interesting and original. Technically, your photo is good, also; sharp and with good colors.
I love these bears and saw them the first time they were in Berlin in 2002. Just missed seeing them on their second visit (darn) but there are still some privately commissioned bears floating around the city (I have posted several on TE; check out my gallery). There is also a TE theme for animals such as these ("Animal but not Cow Parades"). Please consider adding your photo to the theme, as it is a wonderful image.
Thanks also for the interesting Note and the links.
Well done!
Regards, Jackie
