The cathedral (Kölner Dom, official name Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria) and the Hohenzollern bridge are the most characteristic landmarks of Koeln. The contrast between the gothic cathedral (its building started in 1248, completion in 1880) and the modern bridge (the bridge as you now see was built between 1907 and 1911 and rebuilt after WWII when it was completely destroyed) is amazing.

I used 'warm' filter in my camera, added contrast and framed.

Impressive POV,Hanna!!The composition is great, with perfect balance between both plans!
All the best
...and I can say..pozdrawiam

Hello, very nice composition. Very good idea to have this perspective of bridge with the cathedral in background.
Just one remark : I found the background a little "white" . I've tried to emphasis contrast in the WS.
Best regards
JMarc

Hi Hanna

you did a great yob here.
The pov is fine and the details reach.
The only think what I wonder is the f-value.
Normally, this kind of star-shapes at the lamps you can achieve
with a high f-value like f11 or higher...
Anyway, well done.

One correction. I saw your travelogue; the right expression in German is: Mein deutsches Wochenende :-)

Hola Hanna.
This is an impressive picture of the bridge and beautiful cathedral, you captured both very well with an excellent POV and perspective. Colours contrast and composition are very good. Well done and thank you for sharing.

Hi Hanna,

This is just fantastis, I like the coloures and DOF. Well done.

Nice subject. The shot is well composed, too. My only nit is that it seems bit "tight." I wish there were just a bit more breathing space in the shot. (I've found the white frame actually heps with that, so it must feel almost claustrophobic without it). Ay chance you cropped this and you could uncrop it just a bit?

great shot of my favourite cathedral, hanna! :-)
good tight and "close", unusual pov with the cathedral "growing"
out of the bridge. the light and colors are very nice.
no tripod? did you use the wall then, too?
hope you had a fine "deutsches wochenende".
well seen & captured, thor.

An interesting composition, quite brave to get so close in on the bridge there but it works well. When will they ever get rid of that ugly scaffolding off the towers? I have lived in Köln for two years and didn't know that it had any name other than "Kölner Dom". Thanks for educating me!!

Beautiful exposure and contrast.
Stunning photo!

Ver good - I like the contrast between the two architectural styles here, the old & (relatively) modern, but also the contrast between the curves on the bridge, and the angles of the Cathedral. Your POV is well chosen, leading to the effective composition.

superbe Wanda
i really love the pov, in the oipposite sied of the classical one..
may be wait some more time would be nice to get the nice feeling of the "blue hour", but as it is, it 's good anyway.
bye

loic

Very nice framing, with an impressive light. This filter gives very intersting result.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Very nice shot for this classic POV. Amazing colours.

Hi Hanna!
An interesting and impressing pov of these famous Cologne landmarcs. Your composition puts the bridge as a bridge from everyday perceptions to the faith in the Allmighty...

pozdrawiam:-)

hi Hanna,
a great composition, mixing modernity with an ancient building is brilliant. An impressive thing is the colors in this shot.

Hi Hanna, nice composition and viewpoint, I really like how the lines of the bridge pull my eye into the picture. The shining lights are also beautiful; did you use a star filter?

Wow, now I want to go to Köln. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Hanna...wow very nice picture...this is a place where I spent nearly 19 years of my life..(I grew up in Bonn) so not far from Cologne and know the DOM and the carnaval spirit of the region too well... Great capture!

Hello Hanna,
excellent idea. I thought before seeing this picture that this cathedral has=d been taken from every possible angle...now it must be:). I don't mind the colors of the cathedral being a bit faded here...we usually see it black, so...The tiny little thing that bugs me is the overexposition on the pillar...Otherwise, it is perfect for me!
Thanks!
Marc

Hi Hanna,

Nice view and good light control and details, I just feel the frame is too tight.

I saw this one in your random 3 pics in intro profile and i love it, your POV is well chosen and your angle is brilliant, a pity this church is under construction but anyway the picture itself is excellent
