Photographer’s Note
The Oxford English Dictionary defines Time as “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future, regarded as a whole.”
Time is also a matter of significant social importance having economic value “time is money” as well as personal value, due to an awareness of the limited time in each day and in our lives.

Oh Hermann,,
I love the shot. Its sort of like mine in that you have the wide space thats relatively simple and uncluttered and the tiny person isolated within. A very nice use of a wide angle. And ofcourse we both have rivers being prominent elements today.

There are so many layers in this shot; even the l o n g boat makes its own layer. There's a very dramatic and cloudy sky, yet there is a nice light on the scene. You seem to have shot from a high POV.

Hi Hermann
Wonderful tonal range in the clouds. I like the juxtapositioning of the man in the wheelchair with the boat. Good sharpness, color, & pov. Tfs!

Beautiful photo from the Rhineside, Hermann. Good use of horizontal layering in which the lo-o-ong ship works well as a slim compositional interest in its own right. The man in the wheelchair is well included in the foreground, and overall the lighting is quite exquisite. Grüße aus Osaka (es geht langsam weiter westwärts).

Hi Hermann,
Okay, my clouds were great, but these are also enourmous with a lot of depth. Could be typical Dutch clouds, but Dusseldorf isn't that far from the border.
Great to see how the ship struggling his way, and the man in the weelchair is an bonus...because for him time not much of importance.
Very well taken en seen...!!!

Waouw Hermann, was für ein Himmel !!
Daniel.

Hi Hermann, A nice capture of the cargo ship along the river. It makes the viewer to think with the handicap person on the side of the band to watching the ship passing by. Nice capture of the dramatic cloud with some highlight to the other side of the river bank. A well taken picture.

the picture is really well composed which seems like quite a feat for the lighting situation here. The clouds are great and everything else is in such sharp focus and great colors.
I had to sit for a while and think about the meaning in your shot. I think I am beginning to understand it, and I really love having to sit and think about shots. Your note and title were really helpful. The song "old man river" comes to mind as I look at this. I especialy enjoy that the boat is going the oppostie way that the man is looking.
thanks for sharing

Guten Morgen Hermann, fascinating wide view of the river with great light and a threatening sky. Nice to bring together at least two very different positions in the time-money scale. Very well composed with a xcellent definition.
Have a nice week,

Hi Hermann,
A well composed shot of this river scene. The lighting on the boat and distant buildings is most enhancing, as are the shadow effects. The man in the wheelchair must have a different view of time than the person running the boat...This is a timeless shot, as there is a story here; we all wonder as to the crippled man's thoughts, his aspirations, his history. Well done, Hermann. Its a keeper.

Hoi Hermann,
John.

Hi Hermann,
This is an interesting picture-story-poetry attacking our imagination. Is that man on wheelchair a former pilot of Rhine boats? Perhaps and perhaps not. Anyway, your title and note give the picture another dimension. Very well done!
Thanks,
Marek

This shot is qute extraordinary, revealing and daring, Hermann. By that last bit I mean that this deserves to be seen HUGE hanging in some gallery somewhere. The long DOF, the incredible sharpness, superb color and that lone wheelchair...strong stuff!

Interesting picture with such high clarity! I've just posted an American version of this... two towboats with barges passing in the Chain of Rocks Canal alongside the Mississippi River. There is hardly room for one towboat to make it let alone two, but they routinely pass eachother there every day!
Anyway, nice work on your photo here!
