This is a view of Triberg main road, the Hauptstrasse, where most Cuckoo clocks stores are. A lovely small town with fabulous specialite' on Cuckoo's.
The exact place where taken, 48.1287, 8.2305 on the map, is from the exit of the Triberg-falls reservation, and the water flow downhill under a small bridge on left side partly seen here, and a creek downhill through town.
Triberg Im Schwarzwald, from Wikipedia.
*** Due to downhill's angle, the rooftop on right upper corner was cropped. I admit did not give thought about when taken the picture.

A pleasant animated perspective down the High Street at Triberg. The flags add some nice splashes of colour to this well presented image and make a good anchor point.

Ha! Ha! I enjoyed your notes, Ike!
How many times have we been so intent on getting the leads coming from the right point and the figures well placed in the shot that, sometimes we don't spot what appears later during processing!
I don't actually think it matters that the roof has been clipped, for the whole of the building was not intended to be on the shot.
The lead into the shot is very effective and it is interesting meeting people coming in the other direction! Flags assist in the movement down the hill. There is a lovely colour spread, with the reds linking well and guiding throughout the shot.
A good dof keeps interest in the whole, with lots of details to be gleaned.
Have a lovely w/e,

The presence of the people is adding life to the scene. The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the buildings. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike ,
This is both a beautiful place and a rich compsition . Many interesting elements and détails to look at . I like a lot the human presence . The framing is almost perfect : it would have been yet better with the top of the house on the right .
ourania (44368) 2013-12-20 10:51
a delightful and interesting view, a fine composition that guides our glance in many directions within the frame. Wherever we look, we find interesting details, little pieces of a comprehensive puzzle. The sense of depth is excellent, the colours have been rendered with great definition and vividness. I also like the movement and reference offered by the people. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

You're capuring well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesing and impressive to see the lovely small town with tasteful/historical buildings and church as it is like medieval times seen from the downhill. It looks like that the whole town has melted into nature, and it's good color balance.
mcmtanyel (21810) 2013-12-20 21:24
This is taken from a commanding POV with an extended view of the Main Street of Triberg. I like the distinct delineation between the urban layer and the forest layer in this photo.

This is a very lively scene with good exposure and details. You did very well with the light considering it is cloudy. The color of the flags and scenery really adds cheerfulness and bright color to the town. Excellent POV that lead us down toward the charming village.

Ciao dear Ike
The flags lining the streets are both colourful and lead the eye down the street and into the frame. Beautiful background mountains and I like the historical and characteristic architecture that is unmistakably German.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely Saturday

A sensational POV, showing us a broad overview of this beautiful place, I love the perspective of the street downhill, the building on the right in the foreground is wonderful, banners give a nice chromatic touch, while the wooded mountains surrounding the village are an added bonus.
Excellent brightness and very good focus.

Hi Ike !!
it looks like a nice place to visit.... a creek running through the city centre is always interesting. Here in Aussie you will never see a Cuckoo clock but you will see plenty of beer gardens and bottle shops ( wines & spirits and BEER ) Ja Ja
I like to look at the zig zag of the street and the Architectural details.
Very nice image

the traditional architecture of this village, and its nice and calm atmosphere, they are well caught into your composition, by means of a good framing, an efficient depth of image, a powerful perspective, and the vitality provided by people walking along this beautiful street.
A great work.

hi ike. i really admire you travelling through germany inch by inch, and showing us many hidden corners out of a regular tourist itinerary. hotel pfaff looks incredibly beutiful, a place i'd love to stay. guessing by the flags, there can also be a hidden hotel on the left.
jcpix (13914) 2013-12-24 5:24
Always a tough decision on where to cut the frame when you have those high rooftops, isn't it? You don't want to have too much sky, but you also don't want it to look unnatural. Even if this particular case was not noticed until later, I think it turned out just fine. There's a good balance between the two elements. A delightful view down this street, it sure does look to be a charming village indeed. The compressed perspective has brought everything together nicely for a picturesque scene.
Wishing you the very best and happy holiday season my friend. Take good care, and here's to many more enjoyable times ahead!
ChrisJ (112403) 2013-12-24 23:14
Hello Ike ,
A good downward pov with excellent use of diminishing linear perspective and vanishing point. Good sharpness and the people animate the scene as well as providing scale. The flags at left add a welcome splash of color. Have a safe and happy Christmas break and New year.
jmdias (63482) 2014-01-02 14:11

UlfE (14641) 2014-01-12 2:50
A brillant photo with a lot to look at. The strong colours and the people in the street make the scene very vivid. Also a excellent composition with the edges of the street beginnning in each of the bottom corners. Even if you probably have the best view from where you took this photo the diagonal lines make feel for having a lot further down the street. One of the best photos from your trip last summer. TFS and have a nice day!
silah (2798) 2014-11-27 5:37
