The Burg Pfalz (XIV century), commonly known as "Die Pfalz", is one of the most famous castles of the Rhine Valley and - probably - also one of the most famous German castles ever. It owes its fame to a particular location on a small island (called Falkenau) in the middle of the River Rhine is one of the castles of the Rhine Valley who have suffered the least amount of destruction. It dates back to 300, but the present structure is the result of restructuring in Baroque style in the '600 and '700. It is located near the town of Kaub, in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz)
On the right, you see the fortress on the hill Katz

This is the most beautiful yet legendary castle built on the Rhine.

This is a beautiful and very interesting castle! This picture is also a fine reminder for me, as we passed this place only a week ago. We travelled by train from Frankfurt and made a two-night stopover at Kamp-Bornhofen. We could take a boat trip on the river, up to St. Goarshausen and Loreley. We were lucky to have much better weather..
