I was lucky to be a second time in Hamburg, this time during pre-X-mas period in 2010. Besides visiting old TE members Andreas (doubay) and Sakis (AthaPan), it was a great chance for me to experience the dark shopping days of a northern country, everywere looked so rich, lively, shops and streets lit with gorgeous lighting, families and friends enjoying life.
Hamburg is another city on canals and bridges, offering lots of reflection photos. I insisted on f/8 for sharpness, therefore iso was 400 and had to use 1/6 sec. handheld.

hi Deniz, very good minimal composition. Love the colours. Reflectiion in water made it just superb. Excellent exposer management and clarity. A simple but good one. Tfs.

Excellent use of the reflection to add another story to the buildings. The window frames suggest shelves in a store, and the interior lighting balances well with the reflections. I am sure that when you travel, you stay busy and on the move, but so many of your fotos look like you spent hours waiting for the light to be just right; it is most impressive!
In 1994, I stayed in a hostel in Hamburg near the St. Pauli brewery. It was a wonderful time! As a boy from land-locked Kansas, a working waterway fascinated me!
By the way... thank you for teaching me that HTML; as you may see, I am using it A LOT!
Have a great weekend!

Woow, Gucci, Escada, for sure not the places for my shopping. Excellent geometrical shot, from the first sight difficult to see where the reflections begin. Nice lights.
have a nice weekend

This shot is sleek and very attractive. I like all of the lines and boxes created by the different windows. This looks like the expensive part of the city. :-) The reflections are great, the scene is perfectly divided by thirds, and I like the frame, too. The thumbnail grabbed me right away.

The light in these buildings does look like Christmas. That's something that's hard to explain, but I think the gold warm light against the dark exterior looks very inviting, as do so many buildings in winter and at Christmas. I see that Gucci is a one of the ones pictured. I guess to be welcome there, one needs deep pockets!
Love that you filled the frame so perfectly with the buildings and got such a crisp and clear reflection.
All the best

A straight-on low light shot revealing all the squares and rectangles combination of the buildings. Lovely warm light and plenty to look at, glimpse of water reflections boosts the visual effect. Well done.

you're a brave brave man my friend, using 1/6 handheld is a cautious way to take photos! haha
thats why i usually have my tripod with me everywhere i go, but i know thats not for everyone.
I like that you left out the skyline and the ground, just the buildings and the water.
but thats really all you needed anyways!
So did you purchase anything from Gucci! haha
cool shot, my first thought was that this was a scene in Amsterdam!
pastadog (13111) 2013-07-01 11:12
Wow, in the thumbnail I hadn't noticed there was a reflection here, and even here I have to look carefully, very nice :)

J'aime ce genre de photo très graphique.
Les lumières à l'interieur ajoutent un plus et c'est une très bonne idée d'avoir gardé 1/3 de la photo en reflect.

a careful framing that enhances the geometry of the scene. I like the result, it looks like a little maze.

Great compo and nice find! I liked the black and the gold colors scattered in this image. Nice play of reflections, lines, and shapes. Very attractive shot!

a delicate composition and a clever use of reflections. I really like the overall tonal palette which is very graphic, very dynamic.
Have a nice day,
