Photographer's Note

Illusion and reality often exist side by side. They influence our perceptions, our feelings etc. The photographed scene looked completely normal, but it was not. To me it looked beautiful and unreal at the same time. Therefore I took the photo.

Hello Wolfgang - Quite uncanny, I looked and looked and then I saw them! Quite a shame how the people in the illusion look so much happier than the 'real' people. To dream a dream? Clever and very well spotted and realised. Kind regards Rosemary

After looking at the 2 pictures, I prefer the B&W because it takes a longer time to discover the real (in bad mood) and the smiling fake.

A very interesting and successful composition with a touch of the surreal about it. Everything is not as it seems as real life is in effect depicted seamlessly with the product of the artist's imagination.

J'aime beaucoup le mélange du réel et du faux. Les seuls qui semblent avoir du plaisir dans l'image sont les faux. Les vrais ont plutôt une gueule de bois.

A very nice shot with a perfect title. Real people live in illusion and when you see pictures like this, can't make out who are real and who are not. Very creative image.

A wonderful picture and not so very easy to understand. Your title is very suitable. Who are the cut-outs, who is real? Judging from your photos Kassel seems to offer surprises in almost any street.

ein echter "Schanze", entfährt es mir da direkt aus der Feder.. sprich Tasatur!
nach meinem persönlichen Empfinden wirkt es in Farbe besser, die Kleider kontrastieren da viel besser!

Very impressive and very clever.

The 'real' people are perfectly positioned to reinforce the illusion you have created. This is a good few steps above the typical, quite common TE use of advertising or artistic material as background to real life. You have gone beyond background and foreground to present an integrated shot.
