Today something from my archives...
This is - I think - an interesting sight of Cologne Cathedral. It was taken from a ship. In foreground you can see the railway bridge "Südbrücke" (southern bridge, built from 1906 to 1919, rebuilt after World War II from 1946 to 1950) with a footway and in background the motorway bridge "Severinsbrücke" (Severin's bridge, built 1958/59).
Right hand next to the cathedral you can see the church "Groß St. Martin".

Hi Frank, I lived one year in Cologne (it was 30 years ago), near this bridge on Rhine I think, so I often went to the other side of the river, sit on the shore and counted ships (and sheep :)... Cologne is like a second home for me. Beautiful photo and what a memories are coming...
warm regards from white Warsaw

A fine image full of contrasts. There are lots of different elements to contemplate but they all come together in a harmonious whole. The people on the bridge are well included and add much to the mood. Very good colours and sharpness. Greetings from a cold and bright Charente-Maritime.

You have captured these many geometric shapes and lines created by the bridges. The foreground bridge provides nice framing for the cathedral. The barge in the foreground adds a sense of direction for the shot. The lighting an colors are fine as is the photo's sharpness.

Bonjour, cher ami Frank,
Une image très habilement réalisée avec ce pont métallique et cette cathédrale qui semble bien petite par rapport au tablier.
Une excellente image au regard des sujets exprimés dans cette composition.

A summerlike feeling here, it must have been another kind of winter in 2005. A very fine "panorama" with a natural fram from the bridge. This Cathedral is really impressing, and the view from the top is very fine. First time I climbed to the top here must have been in 1964!

Guten Morgen Frank, Schoene Bilder. There is always some unique effect when one takes a picture of a subject below a bridge. It is a bit like a two for one situation. Love the church spires reaching up to the sky with the dark blue waters of the Rhein in the foreground. It has been many years since I was in Koeln. Kindest Regards Roger

interessante Zusammensetzung Rahmen. Ich mag die Aussicht auf den Dom, so aus der Ferne, unter der Brücke. Gute Informationen.

This is a superb TE package in every way — the great Cologne Cathedral seen below the bridge, the huge bridge itself, the small well-distributed group of pedestrians and a highly informative note. In 1990 (I cannot believe, it has been 20 years) we visited Cologne and stayed with friends, and I climbed to the top of one of the spires to get a bird's eye view of the city. I see that you took it the day after Christmas, six weeks ago. We are now blanketed by 75 cm of snow, very very unusual for the mid-Atlantic states, such as Virginia.
