19th Mongolfiade Photo

Photographer’s Note

The 19th Mongolfiade of Warstein with 170 ballon starting in the late evening (have a look to the Workshop). The fligth goes about one hour. Back to Warstein a Balloon Glowing was started, a great impression how the many ballon are lighted in the night.

Yes and you know the orange color....... for a Dutchman.

Hi, Achim. The orange colour gives a good unity to your picture. The shape of the balloons gives it a somehow 3D feeling. Good depth and perspective with the alignment of balloons.

Hi Achim,

very good approach. I like the framing of those baloons and the orange tone. Even in high ISO, the noise is not a big problem which tells something about the quality of the 40D. Great job!

- Amusing picture Achim, with this gripped framing they are the spectator in the middle of action and weak illumination outside allows this nice contrast with the inside of balls, it is very successful, bravo!

Hi John,
Normally we always see hot air balloon shots by day, so it is nice too see them in a different light with their splendid warm glow against the dark night sky. You have chosen a nice selction and I like your close in crop.

THe high ISO is giving a nice image. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the hot air balloons. There is a good contrast between the size of the balloons. Well done, have a nice day.

Bonjour Achim.
Je sais, pour l'avoir essayé, que les conditions de lumière sont très difficiles quand on veut photographier les montgolfières la nuit. La photo est une parfaite réussite avec tous ces ballons qui s'imbriquent les uns dans les autres pour arriver à un beau graphisme et un bel ensemble de couleurs.

A wonderful photo and an outstanding and original composition. I think your choice to crop both ballons at right and left and centering at the space beween the rows of them created a fine sense of depth and a graphic effect. Colours are really great and appealing, (I've never seen a photo of ballons by night).
An excellent work, very pleasurable.

Wonderful and fascinating picture of all these hot-air balloons in different sizes, but strange enough in one colours. The close up POV gives a lovely confusing composition.

This is far, far more beautiful than the WS post...really like how the balloons lit up by the lights stand out against the dark sky. I could not imagine what beauty would unfold from the thumbnail...this is excellent!

Hallo Achim! Das ist Dir sehr gut gelungen, diese Nachtaufnahme beim "Ballongluehen". Ich war auch schon vor Ort und fand es gar nicht so einfach, schlussendlich bewegen sich diese Dinger auch noch, was zu Unschaerfen fuehren kann. Tolle Stimmung, genau wie ich sie erlebt habe.
