This photo was taken in the afternoon on shore of North Sea near the tiny village Stinteck situated on the west coast of the German state Schleswig-Holstein. This day we have had a wind speed of Beaufort 8 coming from north-east.

Left hand in the background you can see the offshore oil platform Mittelplate - amidst the National Park Wadden Sea - actually an absurdity ...

Guten Morgen Frank!

ein tolle Lichtstimmung und eine sehr schöne Fernsicht hast Du da vorgefunden..beeindruckend wie das Meer die Sonnenstrahlen spiegelt, die Bohrinsel hätte ich ohne deinen Hinweis für ein weiteres Schiff gehalten..

Ein tolles Bild mit diesem Silberstreifen am Horizont und den 3 verschiedenen Booten.Die Farben des Himmels gefallen mir auch sehr.

Alles hervorragend ! Fast wie eine Gemaelde eines mittelalterlichen hollaendischen Meisters. Das silberne "schimmern" an das Wasseroberflaeche ist grossartig, auch die ungewoehnlichen Farben des Himmels!

A highly atmospheric composition of this storm laden sky. The detail in the sea is beautifully captured and the ships on the horizon contribute much to the mood. A very evocative picture taking full advantage of the sombre lighting conditions. Well done.

Hi Frank,
Light on this one is quite picturesque, making simple view look like a painting. Nice contrast between silver toned ripples and pastel sky. The oil platform adds a special North Sea touch.

This photo has wonderful light and atmosphere, which you have caught excellently. I especially like the silvery shine of the sea. The dramatic sky in many colours is really fine too. Thanks for the interesting link in your note. It was again something new to learn. :-)

Hallo Frank,
This stormy weather is very far from the sun and 33ºC that we're enjoying today in the region of Lisbon.
But I like this view of silver water and dark clouds, a kind of mysterious view.
About the absurdity, maybe it is worst the quarry and cement factory inside the Arrábida Nature Park in Portugal. See it here; it's a shame.

It may have been a bit breezy to watch this, but the colours of this sky are just terrific. And so is the light shining on the sea. The three silhouettes on the horizon help to make this photo a masterpiece.

Die 8 Beaufort kann mann nur ahnen, aber das ist das Watt. Schöne komposition mit diesen Silberstreifen und die Silhouetten von den Schiffen am Horizont.

J'aime beaucoup la palette de couleurs qu'offre cette photographie. Les frêles silhouettes des bateaux nous remet l'Homme à sa place. Les Elements océaniques et atmosphériques sont plus forts que lui.

A beautifull seascape. I like the combination of the shining sea (which shows there is some light), and a the sky, cloudy and yet with beautifull colors between the gray parts.

Bonjour Frank.
Cette photo se contemple comme une marine de belle facture. J'aime cette mer d'argent, les bateaux qui sont sur la ligne d'horizon et ce ciel de légende. Le mauvais temps fait parfois de belles prises comme celle-ci.
