Photographer’s Note

This is the small church of Westerhever, St. Stephanus. Westerhever is situated in the very north of Germany - not far away from banks of North Sea (please see map view right hand) on Eiderstedt peninsula.

A first church on this place was built in 1123 and it was destroyed by a disastrous storm flood in the year 1362. In 1370 a new church was built, this time on a dwelling mound - with the still existing gothic steeple - today the oldest steeple of the region. The nave of this church was rebuilt in 1804.
The oldest artwork in the church is a baptismal font from 12th century. You can see it in workshop.

In workshop you also can see the somehow homey interior of St. Stephanus.
