Photographer’s Note

This is a candelabrum in the cathedral St. Petrus in Schleswig, a city in the very north of Germany, not far away from the Danish boarder.
The first cathedral, here was built already in 947 after the formation of the diocese Schleswig. There are no details known about this church.
In 1200 a small roman basilica here was completed, which collapsed in 1275. The today's cathedral was built in the years 1200 - 1408 and completed in the 16th century. In 1894 the 112 m high west tower was attached.
The greatest trasure of this cathedral is the so called Bordesholmer Altar, carved out of oak wood by Hans Brüggemann in the years 1514 - 1521. It's 13 m high and shows with 392 figures the events from the capture of Chist up to the Ascension. This altar is an incredible artwort.
