Photographer's Note

The photo shows the river Sorge near Bergenhusen on a calm February day.
Broad meadows, moors, and small valleys through which the rivers gently flow: the Eider-Treene-Sorge river landscape is the largest lowland area in Schleswig-Holstein. The landscape of this region is characterised by canals, peat lands and moors and it provides a natural habitat for many animals threatened with extinction. Well marked trails and pathways make canoeing, fishing, and biking a unique experience for visitors who want to enjoy the beauty and quiet of the fascinating river landscape.
However, where the land lies lower than the sea, the locals have always had their hands full stopping their livelihoods from going under. The region experiences few days without wind, as westerly winds prevail throughout most of the year. The whole region has in general a surplus of water and increased incidents of storms and heavy and prolonged rainfalls have caused huge problems of flooding. Several severe storms have affected the region during the last decades.

A calm and harmonious place , during a fine winter day . Sometimes , it seems to me that there is a similarity between your landscapes of Schleswig Holstein and some parts of my region in southern Brittany .

Your title describes the scene perfectly. The low land, the long, lazy river, the soft clouds, nicely reflected, all suggest peace and tranquility. I like the way you have used the bush to create that sense of depth, as the river meanders past it, into the distance.

The reflections of the thin clouds in the very calm water surface is a very attractive part of this picture. It is very obvious that spring is getting closer, there is a very pleasant feeling of warmth here. An interesting note, a very good contribution!

I like the softness of the details and the mild colours. It's a simple composition that would probably also attract a painter. Capturing those reflexions of the cloud would be quite a challenge. The light is very pleasant and reminds me more of spring than of early February. As always a very interesting note.

An experience not to be forgotten when you came across this scenic spot, certainly a placid scene of an exceptional country atmosphere amongst the waterways where swans will glide, and mallard and duck meander within the reeds, and all the adjectives are out... A perfect location of a painter for the sheer serenity that uplifts the soul and rejuvenates the spirit I full agree with you that, this has a beauty quite beyond compare. this is truly peaceful image, even the water seems to be very still. That results in very nice cloud reflection on the river surface which adds so much to the beauty of this landscape. Great light makes the colors warm and more pleasant.

A good POV chosen, and well taken shot, as clarity and DOF were super.
Notably, the clouds move on opposit direction contrast the angel of the field's bank along the curve of the river. That's created extra depth on image.
Lovely calm water, conveyed the serene moment.

This seems like a painting. Beautiful light once again, particularly the warm light on the reeds at the side of the river. The reflection of the clouds is so very beautiful and the smooth water on the river adds to the sense of tranquillity and peace.
