Photographer's Note

This summer, I had chosen the destination Speyer mainly for its impressive cathedral (134 m of length, 7,5 m of wide, height of the nave 33m). Unfortunately, one of both towers of the cathedral was totally covered with scaffolds. It was thus necessary to me to find framings as the one that I present you, by trying to avoid these damned scaffolds.
The Romanesque Imperial St Mary’s Cathedral of Speyer was founded by the first Salian emperor Conrad II. As early as in 1061, the construction was nearly completed and the cathedral was consecrated. Speyer Cathedral served as a model for the further development of Romanesque church building.
