Photographer’s Note
Good Morning Everyone,
My posting, today, shows the banks of the Moselle taken from the boat on which we were travelling.
This part of the river is not so steeply banked as some sections and, therefore gave an opportunity for greater depth.
As you can see, the slopes of the hills are covered with vinyards. This really is a very important wine producing area. (I was amazed at the determination of the people to utilize every single square centimetre of earth to grow vines, no matter how steep or rugged the terrain!)
As we travelled along the river, we saw the various wine producers proudly displaying their names in huge letters. Anyone on a planned wine-tasting trip would know immediately where to stop. I must admit, there was the odd time when we disembarked for just such a pleasure!
Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedbak on any aspect of the photograph. Bev :-)

Hi Bev.
I agree with Luciano - it doesn't look like Germany! Or at least what would be in the mind's eye if someone mentioned the Moselle valley to me. Those slopes in the background look somewhat dry and dusty. But it's a simply and one might say 'classically' composed picture, with the river making a pleasing gentle diagonal, the well placed house standing out as a highlight against the patterns of the vine rows behind, and the green tones well complemented by the summery early autumn sky. I think you have left the contrast levels alone here, making it seem very natural. I've always associated this region with what was sold as a rather sweet white wine here in Australia, in the days before the Australian winemakers stopped (or were forced to stop) using European place names for their wines. One famous one from the 60s and 70s had the strange name of Ben Ean Moselle - a mixture of Scotland and Germany!
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Beverley
Yes, this part of Germany is famous for its white wine. Almost as famous, as neighbouring France!Riesling & Moselle are well known and liked in Australia. Good colour, sharpness & framing on the vineyard. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
What could be better than the wine tasting tour when somebody else is doing the driving :-) A lovely composition of these vine covered hills with their multitude of green tones. The white house is well placed and makes a good contrast with the surrounding greenery.

Bev,
This is a beautiful scene which is well taken by you. The photo has nice balance with the large tree providing balance for the house. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has nice sharpness and DOF. The road creates a nice diagonal through the shot leading the eye from left to right.
TFS,
Asa

hello Bev,
you have captured a nice light and colours here. I especially like the corduroy texture effect of the rows of vines.Just as well I have a nice bottle of wine to enjoy this evening or should feel quite sorry for myself!

It does look beautiful and I can well understand your enthusiasm when you were telling us about your trip. The vines growing on the slopes make lovely patterns. Well composed image with good use of the diagonal of the river's edge and the placement of the white house on a 'third'. The reflections don't take up a large part of the image but they look to be attractively distorted by the boat's wake.

Hello Beverley,
I like very much the Mosel's valley, a very nice country.
A very nice shot too with the white house well located in the composition. Superb harmony in the colors, a festival of green, the houses arise very well in the green. Nice reflections in the Mosel too.
Have a nice WE,
Roger

Hi Bev
Nice landscape, you pointed the house in a strong section of the frame.
I think you should give -2/3 less exposure.
The place reminds me Sancerre area in France.
Best regards

Hi Bev,
Very interesting to see this beautiful valley with the colours of a month ago. We were here last week (going back to Gothenburg via Hahn airport) and I can tell you that the colours were quite different. But the grapes were ripe now and we could along the vineyards and pick a few... I like this picture (and I like the landscape too)!
Kind regards

Hi Bev,
Lovely scene captured from your boat ride down this charming river.
Love the swirling green reflection in the lightly riffling river.
Beautiful textures to the cultivated hillside.
Regards, Tom
