Living under a rock face Photo

Photographer’s Note

These houses in the quarter Pallien of Trier (Treves) are situated on the left, the western bank of Moselle river. The location is towered by impressive bunter sandstone rock faces. Pallien wasn't destroyed in World War II and so the real estate there is rather old. Urbanistic new development there isn't possible because of the limited space between rock face and river. Development only is possible in the present real estate.
Top right you can see the worth visiting restaurant "Weißhaus" overlooking the whole city of Trier.

In the workshop you can see another view of Pallien.

Les maisons semblent bien petites face à cette muraille de gré rouge. Habiter dans le lit d'une rivière n'est pas sans risque.

Guten Morgen Frank!
Interessant wie das Dorf oder der Stadtteil platziert ist zwischen den Felsen und dem Fluss.Guter POV und schöne Kompo mit dem vielen Grün und dem kräftigen rot.
Gestern schrieb ich über ein Bild von KLB,es zeigt ein Dorf in Frankreich das genauso platziert ist.
Die Vill da oben können wier uns wohl beide nicht leisten.

Lovely view of the river and houses, the rock face looks very impressive, not sure I'd like to live below it though.
The soft light is what makes this image for me, the lack of hard shadows improves the image.
Wonderful colours of the rock, the houses, the beautiful green grass and the trees.

also ich könnte dort nicht ruhig schlafen.*g* ständig nach oben schauend, ob mir nicht einer der netten roten felsen aufs
häuschen fällt..immer wieder beeindruckend zu sehen, wie und wo man so alles baut. bei hochwasser gibt es dann sicher auch noch
nasse füße. da bin ich doch vielleicht leiber in köln hinter der neuen hohen schutzmauer.*g* well done & einen schönen tag, thor.

Guten Tag Frank,
In a way it is well that the location of the city does not let on his modern extension. However this knowledge surely does not make happy inhabitants Pallien. Happily but survived the old building in her original shape what is a great treasure. The country town very curiously situated over the river bank Moselle. The part of houses hugged to the steep, rocky cliff. Very nicely shown place, excellent POV and very good sharpness. The place really charming.

Olá Frank, that red cliff stands out well and have a great visual impact in this town. Good color contrast with the surrounding green but it also makes a good background for the line of houses. Nicely presented place.

Hi Frank,
Fantastic shot of this very interesting looking village area in front of those vividly coloured cliffs. You have brought out the colour of the cliffs and the various trees very well on this grey sort of day. Terrific viewpoint with the river, the trees, the houses and the cliffs in layers. The picture and the note really explain this unusual place very well.

Amazing red colour in the rock! A charming place. The restaurant really must have a good view over the city. You have also a good point of view in your photo. Although the weather is dull you have managed to create a nice contrast. Good colours and sharpness.

Your composition is fine using the red cliffs as a backdrop for the houses. The river and trees form an nice border in the fg. The lighting and colors are fine with good sharpness and detail.

hach, ganz ähnlich wie in Salzburg! (Nur, die Felsen dort sind grau.) Schade, dass wir diesen Teil nicht gesehen haben - aber es gibt in Trier so viel Sehenswertes, und wozu gäbe es TE, wenn wir nicht an den visuellen Erlebnissen der anderen Freunde beteiligen würden/könnten? Die gleichmäßige, sanfte Belichtung gibt die Struktur der Felsen hervorragend zurück.
