You may have noticed that I have interest in all kinds of special vehicles. Now, they don't any weirder that this. This is cargo hold of Buran, the Soviet space shuttle. Or to be exact, this is not. This is a test shuttle that was used for testing the automatic landing system of Buran in 1985 - 1987. The only difference to actual shuttle are four jet engines that were needed for take-off from a runway, something that American Space Shuttles never did. So technically this is an aircraft.
Buran did it's only (unmanned) space flight in November 15th, 1988. Dwindling funding due to collapse of Soviet Union meant that Buran never flew again.
Buran is part of extensive space exhibition in Technik Museum Speyer. Please, have also a look at workshop for a side view.
Title Space Oddity a song of David Bowie from the album with the same name, 1969.

I had a pleasure to see this "beauty" while transporting on the Rhine to Speyer.Amazing when we think about all the technology used to build it.
Excellently composed and presented scene(you´re probably the first one who post picture of a space shuttle here).
Thanks for sharing!
Have a nice evening

not your everyday subject when it comes to vehicles of transportation.

Great POV and interest9ing note and subject matter - I never thought I would get to see inside such an aircraft - it is truly impressive - so thanks for that.
This is an excellent composition with the lines and positioning of the different shapes working together so harmoniously. I really like it.

Eye full view of the inside of the Buran especially for the unusual round globes, for what purpose?
Also, I am surprised this guy is in a German museum, it must have been an expensive acquisition?
Good resolution and intriguing view,

Bon point de vue pour une belle composition agréablement contrastée par cette lumière.

Haha, it goes from motorcycle, car, and now air plane. You're only missing the train, but you had lots of trains from your swiss shot. This does looks very futuristic with the high tech machinery.
