A fine point of view on this impressive monument. I like the upward point of view and the contrasting greenery offered by the rows of vines, which also help offset the cloudy sky. Very good clarity.

The monument is well placed in the frame and its location is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the détails and colors of the monument. The cloudy sky does not hurt the output of the colors. Have a nice day.

You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the grand statue holding the sword on the hill and the vineyard which aligned well. It's impressive in rich greenery in behind. And, the whole is harmonized well by beautiful green color combination in spring.

Belle prise en contre plongé qui met le monument en valeur entre ces champs de vignes et les arbres en arrière plan, un doux et beau ciel nuageux

The upward shooting angle here really emphasises the grandeur of this monument . The green trees behind and the sky is the perfect backdrop. Your presentation is enhanced even more by the natural slope of the hill running across the shot. Nice one.

An atmospheric view of the Germania statue for the grey hues and perhaps symbolism with the war figure standing over what appears to be a crowded cemetery rather than vineyard.
Hopefully we will all continue to move past and beyond imperialism and work and share together.
PS: Regarding my auto posting, yes the American auto colors in the 40s were predominantly blacks and browns, only with their later collectors fascination did they change paint jobs to multi colors to attract attention.

Thanks for pointing our attention to this interesting monument. From your POV, the majesty of the monument is well-presented.
Thanks for the Wiki link in your note. I am not quite sure what to make out of the sentence, "The original idea by sculptor Johannes Schilling of the victory of the united German People was later adulterated into a more hostile interpretation against the 'archenemy' France." I am wondering if this monument was misused during Germany's unfortunate experiment with notions of supremacy. Visiting the site, did you get a sense for that?

the effect of the moody lighting in this picture is very interesting. Thanks to your great depth and light management there's superb capture of details and, once you've surpassed this challenge, the light has offered a suggestive and dramatic atmosphere. I like vry much your upward point of view and the nice rhythm of the repetitive patterns and the diagonals that's interrupted by the rising monument. I also like the different shades of green, all of them fresh and lovely. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Sensational capture showing us this great sculpture, the presence of the people we see on the pedestal gives us an idea of its enormous proportions, beautiful setting with trees and vineyards.
Good brightness and sharpness, with vibrant colors.
Very well done.
Have a nice day.

Germania over wineyards takes about the same posture as does Liberty in New York, making shure it shows its first mannitude miles away in open environment.
I can imagine this splendor enhanced by the surrounding autumn colors.
Impressive monument indeed!

the Monument looks impressive, especially with all those people around it,which gives excellent sense of scale for it.But also its surrounding with countless rows of vines and other greenery make very nice scenery for the Monument.Fine composition!
Unfortunately we have no influence on the weather-the blue sky could bring some more brighness and animation to the shot. But you did the best you could under this conditions.
Have a nice day

Oh I remember going up here a few years ago, on the cable car. We didn't attempt the journey this year as it was raining very hard when we docked at Rhudesheim. There was a zoo nearby. Is it still there?
Your upwards viewpoint gives the statue a great sense of grandeur, whilst the stone wall is the perfect separation line for thirds. You might have been able to crop a little at the left to prevent the statue being too central.
Have a great day,
I stopped critiquing yesterday as my smiley faces disappeared. Did you have a problem?
jhm (127955) 2013-10-10 3:43
I was yesterday punished, why, I don't know!
I could not give green smileys to the members.
This is an imposing statue, in a green area.
Nice composition, excellent presentation.
Also excellent depth and perspective picture.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

I was waiting for an image on Bingen , that magical city where my one day cruise finished
Like the way you present the monument from a low point of view and surrounded by the green vegetation (vineyards)
ChrisJ (91276) 2013-10-11 15:57
Love the repetitive patterns formed by the fg vineyards and their stakes. The people in the bg adjacent to the huge sculpture are vital for an idea of scale. Good sharpness and the overcast day has given you a superb diffused light. I like the repetition of the 4 diagonal lines in the compos, each adding a successive layer and dynamism. Tfs!
jcpix (6536) 2013-10-17 16:58
I've always enjoyed a diagonal cut within a composition, it feels to create a stronger impact. This compressed focal length works very well to bring the vineyards and monument together in one pleasing frame. I love the highlight of natural sunshine in the foreground, even though we can't see it in the sky, it's letting us know it's still around. :) The shades of green contrast nicely with the darker tones, and the detail appears sharp in all areas. A fine look at this impressive location. Have a great day ahead.

Hi Ike !!
great shot from a considerable distance... still it is really sharp.
Nobody builds monuments in this style anymore.....so we have to be happy when we see one like this one...... is an outstanding work of art.
Very nice green colours.
Have a nice Sunday.
