Photographer’s Note

Mainz Cathedral, formally known as St. Martin Cathedral is located near the historical center and pedestrianized market square of the city of Mainz, Germany.
Mainz Cathedral is predominantly Romanesque in style, but later exterior additions over many centuries have resulted in the appearance of various architectural influences seen today. It comprises three naves and stands under the patronage of Saint Martin of Tours. The eastern quire is dedicated to Saint Stephen.
The interior of the cathedral houses tombs and funerary monuments of former powerful Electoral-prince-archbishops, or Kurfürst-Erzbischöfe, of the diocese and contains religious works of art spanning a millennium. The cathedral also has a central courtyard and statues of St. Boniface and The Madonna on its grounds.

Hallo Asa!
I like this one very much - I think it's somehow an invitation to Mainz. You truly couldn't find a better point of view. I like the whole atmosphere of this photo, it's summerly and very "relaxed" with all these people enjoying a cup of coffee or something else under the tree. A really inviting picture ... with this towering cathedral!

The pink brick cathedral is seen in fine intricate detail and sharpness.

A fine composition. The polarised blue sky makes a good backdrop to show off the interesting stonework of the cathedral. The people sat outside the cafe brings a nice touch of animation. Very good colours and clarity.

great colour contrasts, really eye-catching and so many wonderful details in the architecture. The inclusion of the relaxing people in the foreground cafe gets mood with the large green tree.

Cette architecture et ces couleurs me semble typique du style germanique.
Ce cadrage qui profite de cet arbre (dont l'ombre attire les touristes!) est tout à fait réussi.
