Photographer’s Note

This is the Deutsches Eck (German Corner); the headland at the confluence between the Rhine River and the Mosel River. The giant equestrian statue that you can see depicts the German Emperor Wilhelm I, who was celebrated as the man who fought for the German union in several wars. It was erected in 1897. This place can be considered one of the cornerstones of the German patriotism.
