Photographer's Note

The last days I showed you pictures of St. Nicholas nursing home, in German called Cusanus-Stift, in the small town Bernkastel-Kues on the bank of Moselle river. It was founded in 1458 by Nicholas of Cusa (1401 - 1464), a great philosopher, mathematician and Cardinal.
To this charitable institution he bequeathed his entire inheritance and it still stands, and serves the purpose Nicholas intended for it, as a home for the aged. A part of his inheritance e.g. were several big vineyards in this region which still today yield well.
Here you can see the deed of foundation from December 3rd 1458.

In my photo I show you one of the corridors there. At the left side there are the doors to rooms or appartments of the nursing home residents. In the workshop you can see another corridor there. The whole home is very well kept and some parts can be visited by interested people.
