Photographer's Note

Castle Eltz is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago.
The castle is surrounded on three sides by the Elzbach River, a tributary on the north side of the Moselle. It is situated on a 70m rock spur, on an important Roman trade route between the rich farm lands and their markets
The exact date of construction of the castle is not known. The first mention is to be found in a document of Fredrick I Barbarossa of 1157.

Really nice this castle at the back of beyond.
The quality of your shot is perfect (contrasts, sharpness, composition).
And I like these bad clouds which give an atmosphere a little dramatic to this place.

Hi Philip, well chosen POV on this location. As others have said the contrast between the castle and surrounding trees works well. Sky tones are good too, must have been a really dark sky. Placement of the subject is good and I like the idea of walking (visually) down the path to the castle. cheers, steve

Hi Philip,
I had the chance to visit this castle and it was truly magical. Nestled away in a dense forest, it was quite a trek to even get there! I love the perspective of your shot. This castle seems lost in time, and I like how there aren't any modern features or cars captured here. The dark cloudy sky adds some effect as well.
