This is a picture of the Indemann (Inde is a little river nearby) which is standing on a slag-heap of the Inden brown coal open cast mining area. It's function is to be a lookout tower to observe the vast area of open coal mining.
It's 36 m high and made from 280 t steel. On three platforms at different levels you can have a nice view of the area around (if a massive hole in the ground can be regarded as a nice view). But people with fear of heights be aware that the platforms are made from steel grating. You can see right to the ground from every platform.

You show us here a very interesting and intriguing picture of this particular watchtower in shape of a robot. Your low POV emphasizes the perspective and the height of this impressive metal structure. A pity there wasn't any human presence nearby to give scale to this amazing installation. Thanks for sharing this original discovery.
